New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand Part 2

Published

Due to recent changes regarding applications for International nurses to Australia and the combining of the nursing boards to one central nursing board in Australia AHPRA I have started a new thread for people to discuss the new process on working in Australia.

Currently New Zealand is not accepting new applicants from International trained nurses except those that meet the Trans Tasman Mutual Recognition Agreement {TTMR} this will be updated once the New Zealand nursing board reopen their books to International nurses.

This is a shout-out to anyone who has undergone the bp at ETEA. Can you please give us an idea regarding the required uniform? I emailed them and they told me that everything about the course will be given to us during the first day of classes. Not much help there. A number of those who have finished their bp though, including my niece, told me they were made to wear white collared t-shirt and black or dark blue pants. So, I bought white shirts just in case.

LOimVE, don't worry about your case though. I will be going in the Oct 3 intake. I can advise you what the requirements of the school including the uniform ahead of the start of your intake. :D

hi in just wondering regarding how did you apply to ETEA?process, requirements and expenses??can you or anyone here help me with this?i know i'm still in registration process but i might as well have an idea regarding what will be my next problem..thanks in advance!!

Applying for enrollment in bp schools is not rocket science. You check the AHPRA website for all the accredited bp schools. Go to the website of each school and check the requirements as well as download the application forms. As soon as you have the AHPRA letter, you submit the filled up application forms to the schools through email with all the scanned supporting docs. I hope you do your homework apart from asking questions from forumers here. We are all adults here and we help each other as much as we can. But at the risk of sounding rude, we are not here to spoon feed.

(Note : You won't have as much elementary questions have you had the opportunity to read this thread from the beginning. With enough patience, you can surely do it as I did. ;))

i strongly suggest you enroll in an ielts review center. as far as reading and listening are concerned, they basically are fill in the blank questions which only require objective answers. you can practice on your own. but the speaking and writing portions are essay and subjective debate types. somebody has to point out your weaknesses and guide you in the better way of delivering your essay and speech. there are no right or wrong answers. what the ielts system will check you on are grammar, how extensive your english vocabulary is, how you can think on your toes and defend the standpoint you have taken.

there are numerous ielts review centers right now. i chose the one that only has 5 to 10 students per class. that way, the teacher can focus on each student's pace and check his progress. my review center was also the one that i reviewed with for the nle. the teacher was excellent. i think we were only 5 students at that time. and they gave us unlimited practice sessions after the lecture. since my ielts test was to expire this month, i took the test again last july. and a month before the test, i attended the review classes again absolutely free!!!!

one very effective tip that teacher *** gave me for writing was always write in the first person. write as if you are talking to someone. this point of view is the easiest and most engaging.

another great tip was --- always make a "hook statement". this is a line/phrase in your intro that will grab the attention of the reader.

lastly, focus on task 2 because this is what gives a higher weight for your writing score. when you structure your essay, give two or 3 paragraphs that support your standpoint. to balance it, give 1 contrary side. then you can put the conclusion at the end.

there is no use, though, for having a great standpoint if you are not good in basic english (i.e. spelling, tenses, basic grammar). so, i suggest you practice, practice, practice, and practice. read newspapers, current events, magazines. look for the meaning of each unfamiliar word. write then down. try to use the words in your essays. it's easier to remember when you keep using them.

i know this test is so hard and tedious. many, including me, dread taking the test everytime. but this is a fact of life for us. we cannot evade this test if you want to work in a first world english speaking country like australia.

god bless everyone taking the test soon. don't be frustrated easily. perseverance is the key. if you fail to get the minimum required score this time, review, practice, and take it again. ahpra and diac will not know and won't care how many times you've failed in this test. what they only look for are the minimum scores and that your test results are current, valid, and unexpired. :yeah::D:yeah::D

couldnt´t agree more with you!:)

the essential is practice, practice,practice...as the famous sentence says:

maybe a little off, but re: IELTS review.

I used http://www.scottsenglish.com/ielts/

since I already took IELTS before, I kinda know what to expect and I "assumed" I may just need a refresher. The review helped me a lot. It's online so I don't have to go to a review center (which we don't have in our area anyway). But since it's online, you can't get any feedback on writing and speaking part coz it is pure software-run.

i just thought of sharing. it might help.

good evening nurses ...

i tried to look for the verification request form in New Mexico-Board of Nursing (NCLEX), and the form states that

"LICENSE VERIFICATION REQUEST FORM

THE NEW MEXICO BOARD ON NURSING CHARGES A $30.00 FEE FOR VERIFICATION OF LICENSURE.

WE DO NOT VERIFY RN/LPN LICENSURE TO OTHER BOARDS OF NURSING OR TO PRIVATE ENTITIES.

YOU MUST GO THROUGH THE NATIONAL COUNCIL OF STATE BOARDS OF NURSING (NCSBN) AT

http://WWW.NURSYS.COM''

what do they mean with this " WE DO NOT VERIFY RN/LPN LICENSURE TO OTHER BOARDS OF NURSING OR TO PRIVATE ENTITIES"

anyone tried this one? can anyone advice me what to do..

thank you so much
