New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand Part 2

Published

Due to recent changes regarding applications for International nurses to Australia and the combining of the nursing boards to one central nursing board in Australia AHPRA I have started a new thread for people to discuss the new process on working in Australia.

Currently New Zealand is not accepting new applicants from International trained nurses except those that meet the Trans Tasman Mutual Recognition Agreement {TTMR} this will be updated once the New Zealand nursing board reopen their books to International nurses.

Hello everyone!!!:D I'm reading this thread for more than a weeks now but this will be my first post hehe. I just want to ask if after you finish the BP is there a guarantee that you will land a nursing job in there????? That's my very important question I hope it will be answered because 10,000AUD for BP is too much and plus your visa,documents,food,apartment,etc...

- 'guarantee' was alive 2 years ago, just passed away this year..

- the appropriate question you should ask is: what is your probability of getting a job after BP?

answer is.... it DEPENDS.... 10 year experience as an ICU nurse in St. Luke's, whew, i will guarantee you that..

1-2 years paid Philippine hospital experience...errrrr...no comment....:uhoh3:

- are you 'choosy' in looking for work/institution?? ...then i will not guarantee you will find job...

- are you a very lucky person... yes, i will guarantee, if you say you are a lucky person..

it depends, times change...

Is it necessary to fly back home after bp to process 457 visa?

I was hoping that after passing the bp and if luckily offered a job then I can process my 457 visa while staying in Australia with 456 visa.

Is this possible?

I am worried about the expenses since I'll use my savings.

I've been saving money for two years for this kind of event and I want to lessen some expenses since plane ticket is not cheap.

Can somebody enlighten me please?

It is not necessary to go back to your "home-country" while processing your 457 Working Visa. As long as you do it in time and you have an employer that is willing to nominate you for sponsorship. You will automatically be offered a bridging visa while DIAC is processing your application for the 457 visa.

As for work... Do not fret guys. As long as you have your Australian Nursing Registration then I am sure you will find work. Hospitals and Nursing homes will be happy to take you especially if you have enough experience to boast. I am not saying it is very easy but I don't think it's that hard either.

Good luck.

haoyin answered your question....

dont forget to check the expiry of your visa..

estimate properly your timetables.. from the day you receive your registration, job hunting may take 2-4 weeks.. then it will take 3-4 weeks to process your 457 visa.. so if you can afford to stay in australia for that number of weeks then good, on the other hand try to compute, it might be cheaper to go back home via budget airlines than spend money staying in australia... this things you try to weigh and compute..

good luck..

i have the same sentiments. you must be ready with your plan B if you don't want to go back to the very beautiful and rich Philippines! but plan B should never be fiance visa or illegal work because it is degrading to Filipinos. ahihi!

hi! how long is the time period between BP graduation and release of license by AHPRA? also, would hospitals and nursing homes be really happy in sponsoring OS nurses the 457 visa when they can just easily get OZ fresh nsg grads? can you give as a ratio of Au:OS nurse in a particular institution?

hi everyone! the fruits of my labor/nagging/bothering e-mails to AHPRA has paid off. i fear the extra requirement they're going to ask me is the california license verification, which is very tedious to acquire! btw, i read in the NZ Nsg council that applicants should wait 21 days for NZ nsg council to give their reply that they already have the applicant's documents. i think more or less the same goes to AHPRA. my last document arrived at Victoria on Sep22. and their reply is dated oct8, so that's like 16days...

can someone please enlighten me about the graduate nursing program and other programs similar to this? is this the answer to OS inexperienced nurses? okay i'm not taking this away from Au/NZ grad RNs okay? just asking...

No, but it sounds like Australia is the last place on earth that is offering anything. Is there anyone out there that is a boss or assistant boss and could guarantee jobs?

Thanks ceridwyn hehe actually that's what I'am thinking also!:).
