Due to recent changes regarding applications for International nurses to Australia and the combining of the nursing boards to one central nursing board in Australia AHPRA I have started a new thread for people to discuss the new process on working in Australia.
Currently New Zealand is not accepting new applicants from International trained nurses except those that meet the Trans Tasman Mutual Recognition Agreement {TTMR} this will be updated once the New Zealand nursing board reopen their books to International nurses.

haha. don't we all.what are the required immunizations? did they give you a list of documents needed already? I plan to pay through credit card.
There are a lot of accomodations available around the school and I think burwood is more modern than the cities i've seen in victoria. There is a mall near the school, a park and a supermarket. That should make life less boring there... I hope.
I plan to go there April 25 for the April 27 intake.
refer to the attachment and url for the immunisation requirement in nsw
from what i know the requirements for con are ielts, ahpra letter for bp, ahpra referral letter to con, receipt of payment for tuition fee, immunisation documents, visa, application form :)
you must be really rich if your credit card limit exceeds 450k pesos per one transaction! (i don't know anything about credit cards lol!)
it seems you are already familiar with burwood and sydney
i plan to go to the next intake in con which is 25apr-17jun?

Yes HPH is a cheaper than any BP schools I have researched so far. However, HPH has a very limited number of students per intake and the selection of students will be from a lot of countries, so competition is pretty tight. I would have enrolled there had I been accepted. But this is not to discourage you from applying there, just telling you the realities. I would consider you so lucky if you will be accepted. Good luck!
Did they tell you the reason why they did not accept you? I noticed that one of their requirements is a senior first aid certificate. Anybody knows about this certificate? Do we have one here in the Philippines?

Thanks bro! Looks like we can be classmates then. I am just wondering why the BP in CON is only for 8 weeks... As compared to the ones in VIC which are normally for 12 weeks. Do you guys know why? Will your license be limited if you have a shorter BP?
Thanks!

No, they did not tell me why I wasn't accepted. I assumed that the reason I wasn't accepted was because I applied nearing the deadline for the applications. Plus there were and still are a lot of applicants for that program. With regard to the senior first aid certificate, I believe I took the 1week course of the Red Cross (the one with the water safety). I can't remember much as it has been nearly 2years ago. If there would be someone who could clarify this, I would be happy to know the answers as well. Cheers!
To the people taking their BP at VCHN, where are you guys staying? Did you take the accommodation being offered by VCHN? The one that amounts to 7,000$?Thanks!
Not taking the accommodation package. The tuition is already expensive and I would be in a more serious penny-pinching than I could ever imagine if I take the package. I'm looking for an affordable place that is within walking distance. Hopefully, something comes up that is affordable.

You are right. I tried inquiring from vchn about taking only package 1 which is the lodging only. They offered it for $5k for the duration of 10 wks. Still too expensive for me. Hahahaha.
yay! i'm glad to know that, where did u take your BP cioman? Did anyone on this forum finish their BP in CON, Burwood, NSW? If so, please share you experience, if you don't mind.
i became RN before AHPRA.. got my license in Northern Territory.. no BP, me just sitting pretty in my home in the philippines, sent documents required, one week later, received acknowledgment email from them, then one week later, saw my name in the "register of RN".. 2 weeks later, received my original copy of my registration paper... please do not ask further question because it still useless because that happened before AHPRA.. consider me a lucky person because i consider myself a lucky person as far as getting my RN license in Oz.. for that same reason, i do not complain much about my job now.. im satisfied..
Ive been a member of this thread since somewhere page 30 of the part 1 of this thread, so thats 3 years if im correct in counting.. and no one here ever enrolled in Burwood because it was very expensive as compared to QLD, VIC, WA, NT... anyone who enrolled in Burwood then, was either crazy, mis-informed, or just angry of money ("galit sa pera").. no other reasons except for the cost..
cheers!

just dont forget my previous posts regarding BP in HPH....
we do not have senior first aid certificate in the phils. (as far as i know).. the closest we got is the "first aid training certificate" conducted/given my PNRC.. but i noticed once in a while that there are private institution/organization which had been offiering 1st aid training (besides PNRC)... if you have AHA BLS ACLS certificate plus PNRC 1st Aid Certificate then that should be more than enough to meet the requirement..

some BPs are 4 months, some 5 months, some 6 months.. some 8 weeks, some 12 weeks... for me, the most important thing is to become an Aus. RN as cheap as possible and as quickly as possible, thus, for the past 3 years in this thread, i never bother myself to ask why it is just 8 weeks in CON, honestly, i did not care about it although i was aware about it, in fact you can be "accelerated" in CON, meaning it is possible to finish the BP sooner than 8 weeks.. and why they have "acceleration"? well, still i do not care why, and so i do not know, just make me an RN as cheap and as quick as possible, thats my focus..
......Will your license be limited if you have a shorter BP?...." ...obviously by now, you have read my mind and you already know the answer to this question..
good luck! stay focus and you'll get a better job than mine..

You really are a lucky one. I wish I heard about that license in NT earlier..it would have saved me TONS of money and energy! Personally, as long as I get my license, I wouldn't mind working in the rural areas- just a stepping stone for opportunities later. I hope and pray I get my chance to live the OZ dream!
