New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand Part 2

Published

Due to recent changes regarding applications for International nurses to Australia and the combining of the nursing boards to one central nursing board in Australia AHPRA I have started a new thread for people to discuss the new process on working in Australia.

Currently New Zealand is not accepting new applicants from International trained nurses except those that meet the Trans Tasman Mutual Recognition Agreement {TTMR} this will be updated once the New Zealand nursing board reopen their books to International nurses.

hi everyone.. i was wondering if anyone of you knows how or to whom i can follow up my application with AHPRA. I submitted all my docs last 1st week of october 2010. Sally from AHPRA NSW acknowledged that she has received my documents already. our last email was Dec 17, 2010 and she said my application would be taken up in the next board meeting. after that email, she has not replied to any of my emails anymore. I have a bad feeling about my application- perhaps it has been misplaced or filed for a different purpose? i don't know.. just a nagging feeling that i get. I have been billed in my credit card though last October 20+ if im not mistaken.

how did you all follow up on your applications? I would highly appreciate suggestions since i am getting quite impatient :(

Hi! Don't lose hope. I applied for the NBV and then I had to reapply because they said I was caught in between transition from NBV to AHPRA. I had to resend all of my documents and had to wait for a total of 9 months because of different little reasons.

Calling them is a mess, you're going to be waiting for an hour for someone to pick up the phone, I suggest just email AHPRA using the general enquiry form and wait for a reply. :D

Cerdwin, I may be going there as well as I have relatives in Blacktown.

Why did you choose NSW over VIC? Where are you planning on staying?

I think the price is relatively the same compared to the schools in VIC.

I am still choosing among VCHN, La Trobe or CON.

Any words of wisdom?

Did you have to send your documents via post or is email fine? They are asking me to pay for the tuition prior to even being accepted, is that the same case with u?

i heard many filipinos live in blacktown. my relatives live in a suburb in sydney. i may stay with my relatives until i find a place to rent. i hope since nsw is larger than vic, it's easier to find work in nsw. you need ahpra nsw's referral letter to con to do the bp there. if you applied in another state, tell them that you're interested in con. one forum member here said that vchn assists in the employment of their bp students. ramsay's bp fee is only aud4k. con asked me to email them scanned copies of my ielts and ahpra letters. if they are satisfied (meaning you pass the admission criteria) then they will give you the go signal to pay the tuition fee. please inform me if you're going to con too. thank you.

im sorry, is this a joke? or are you really serious with this question? ...alryt i'll assume you are serious with your question.. and here's my answer, in relation to my original post..

i wrote "planning to transfer" which is a future tense, in the future, not now.. therefore i am not "being" replaced because "being" is present tense.. if me and my fellow RN "will transfer" (future tense) then definitely the nursing home "will replace" us (future tense) because the nursing home will need RNs to replace us "by then" (future tense)..

come on.... im sorry if i wrote things confusingly, but i think i wrote my post clearly.. whew! sorry..

ah ok :nurse:

I have a schoolmate who just finished his BP in Adelaide a month ago, he has just been offered a job today.

what's their secret? :lttang:

I have sent my documents to them and they said that my letter from Victoria is valid. Irene Wong from CON told me to pay the fees already. I just need to know how far Woodcraft (near blacktown) is to Burwood. Is that a daily, commutable trip? If its too far I may look for a flatmate near Burwood.

My friends in Australia says that NSW pays their nurses lower as compared to the other states. Brisbane pays a lot according to them.

prior AHPRA, college of nsg burwood is the only BP school in NSW, so all foreign nurses who want to be RNs in NSW will just have to enrol in said school.. i assume that would answer the words "good place".. or are you thinking of "good place" meaning if there are a lot of good looking guys/gals.. peace, hehehe... cheers!

but until now they are still the only school in nsw that offers the bridging?

yes true, NSW pays less, but it has a lot of nursing vacancies (and no floods).. Brisbane pays a lot, IF you find a job there, if you do then you're lucky and of course i envy you.. peace! gotta go, on PM shift duty me now..

hello! how is the employment situation in new south wales? is it the same in vic and other states?

thank you very much!

haha. don't we all. :D what are the required immunizations? did they give you a list of documents needed already? I plan to pay through credit card. :D There are a lot of accomodations available around the school and I think burwood is more modern than the cities i've seen in victoria. There is a mall near the school, a park and a supermarket. That should make life less boring there... I hope. :D I plan to go there April 25 for the April 27 intake. :D
