New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand Part 2

Published

Due to recent changes regarding applications for International nurses to Australia and the combining of the nursing boards to one central nursing board in Australia AHPRA I have started a new thread for people to discuss the new process on working in Australia.

Currently New Zealand is not accepting new applicants from International trained nurses except those that meet the Trans Tasman Mutual Recognition Agreement {TTMR} this will be updated once the New Zealand nursing board reopen their books to International nurses.

Hi everyone! Anyone who can suggest of a place to stay near VCHN Melbourne? Thanks :)

I tried to research homestay sites for possible locations in upper heidelburg but sad to say there's none. The best option is the one offered by hci, the affiliate of vchn. It's only $125/wk. The downside is that it's a dorm type and you can't choose your bunk mate. I'm inclined to take this option because it's the cheapest. :o

why don't you find a place to rent at gumtree.com.au.. there are a lot of cheaper place to rent there..and you can have your own room instead..

Who has taken the BP in Hollywood Private Hospital? And how to find accomodation? I am wondering if all of these are worth it and would be able to find job. I hope someone would answer me. Thank you!

It's only 125/wk?? It says the cost of the whole stay(20 weeks) is $7200 , which is roughly $360/wk... or are there other options I am not aware of... and besides 456 visa will allow you only 12 weeks in Australia. Thanks. :)

i don't know anyone from this forum who took his/her bp at hph but it is good choice if your looking for a cheap alternative. good thing that you asked, hph has open their program this year, . if i remember it correctly in 2009 the bp at hph costs 1.1 or 1.3 k aus $ (not sure but it is less than 1.5k =) ), the other cheap alternative is the program offered by doh wa but i also heard the getting in their program is competitive, the latter requires 2 years acute care hospital experience. :)

You just take the package # 1 for accommodations.

course costs

[color=#333333]the cost is $3,400 (inc gst) per participant. overseas applicants will incur an additional $600 administration fee (total fee for overseas applicants $4,000). a proportion of this fee is refundable, by the employer, to the participant if they take up employment within three (3) months of completion with one of the hospitals identified above. conditions are discussed with the employee, but as a minimum require permanent employment on a minimum of two days per week following completion of a three month probationary period.

Sorry If my last posts made you contemplate on whether to pursue your Bp at CON burwood . You can always defer your offer or enroll on the next intake. Take your time bro. You're lucky that you've received your APHRA eligibility already, widen your options, pray, consult your parents. I've been a long time member here but I'm still here in the Philippines doing volunteer work, with God's grace hopefully I can make it this year. Good luck.

hello unadunad! thank you for your advice. no it's not about con vs rhc, although the cheaper fee and possible immediate employment in rhc really makes me reevaluate many things. i want to back out because of the many disheartening things like oz doesn't need foreign RNs, ENs are cheaper, surplus and unemployment of local oz grads, not knowing aboriginal culture, expensive bp fee, being second class, slow AHPRA, no vacant positions, returning to phil after bp then can't get back to oz, limited time to look for job, working in rural area, no sponsor, choosy in required experience, and many more. all these things run in my head all the time. i think these are enough reasons to back out from my oz dream. there's too much to risk and i'm not a risk taker, i'm a control freak who plays safe lol! i was very excited about this at first. :crying2:
