Due to recent changes regarding applications for International nurses to Australia and the combining of the nursing boards to one central nursing board in Australia AHPRA I have started a new thread for people to discuss the new process on working in Australia.
Currently New Zealand is not accepting new applicants from International trained nurses except those that meet the Trans Tasman Mutual Recognition Agreement {TTMR} this will be updated once the New Zealand nursing board reopen their books to International nurses.

Part 1 thread New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand - Nursing for Nurses
Hey Guys,I just want to ask regarding the real status of nursing in Australia. Is it difficult to find a job after finishing the bridging course? Do you know any nurse, who after finishing the bridging course, could not find a job and was forced to leave?
Any input is quite appreciated.
Men, if you will tell me that you are willing to work in Torres Islands or in Christmas Island then you will find job after BP.. but if you are artistic ("ma-arte"), then you will find difficulty EXCEPT if you have an excellent resume..
take note however, that the searching and processing time is longer now as compared to before.. so you may be "forced" to leave/back in phils. NOT BECAUSE you cannot find a job BUT because you cannot YET find a job.. see the difference..
cheers!
No-one on this forum is going to own up to not being successful in getting job. Called saving face. The jobs have been drying up as locals find it now difficult to change between jobs, everybody is holding on to what they have until they find something else now, even if you are sick to death of your speciality. Though if you are in the 'know here' if you get what I mean, with some other s apparently you can sneak it in.
There maybe lots of jobs advertised, but, they usually already have internal applicant ready to take over soon as the required advertising time is over....

i know one
I went to PRC awhileback to request a certificate of good standing to be sent directly to AHPRA and to my surprise, wow! there were lots of applicants who requested the same thing to be sent to AHPRA too since January of this year... I even saw one on the list who applied in Hobart, Tasmania and the rest mostly VIC NSW and SA.
Guess it's really becoming tougher and tougher nowadays, and the fact that we spent a lot and we are going there without a secured job waiting for us, only after taking the BP and registering as a nurse, then we can look for a job.
Quite frustrating huh, but still holding on...=)
The best is yet to come =)
