Due to recent changes regarding applications for International nurses to Australia and the combining of the nursing boards to one central nursing board in Australia AHPRA I have started a new thread for people to discuss the new process on working in Australia.
Currently New Zealand is not accepting new applicants from International trained nurses except those that meet the Trans Tasman Mutual Recognition Agreement {TTMR} this will be updated once the New Zealand nursing board reopen their books to International nurses.

Hi Guys! I just sent my application to AHPRA this first week of February. The thing is, I sent my Certficate of Good Standing via PRC last Dec 2010. I'm worried it could have gotten lost. Do you guys think I should resend it again? Or AHPRA don't really lose the letters sent to them? Thanks so much :)
I was about to send my application yesterday to AHPRA Victoria, went to this famous courier service express, but unfortunately to my dismay, they did not accept my documents since the address is just a GPO BOX, and nobody will be signing and receiving the courier, which is against their policy and SOP... went to another known courier office but again for the second time, I was refused...Last resort is the Philpost yet I'm just so uncertain about them.Any other means of sending via courier??? and anybody who tried the philpost???
help please and heap of thanks =)
i understand that you are a bit new here... your concern was discussed way back then... so here it is and to all others.. just a reminder really:
1) GPO BOX, PO BOX ------ no private courier mails should be sent to this type of address... you must use the Philpost... Philpost? it is reliable, use the EMS/PHILPOST, no problem.. all my international documents e.g. USA, Australia, i used EMS / Philpost, no worries.. and a lot cheaper..
2) If you use private courier, then mail/send it to their office address (not po box)...
3) the above set-up/rules are applicable in all countries, that's the agreement of all post offices of all countries..

AHPRA has a filing system that will collate documents sent even before your application arrives, don't worry :) If it really doesn't come they will advise you. You may also check with AHPRA after you tracked that your courier already delivered them.
From what I know based on my follow-ups before, the receiving section scans all the documents received and puts it into the system, assign a reference number, so that the case officer actually browses it electronically.
For the meantime, relax, pray, think positive :) There is always a reason for everything, goodluck!

got your point.... without considering the issue of money/cost, you should send again to be sure about it.. when i was sending application documents, i made sure to count the number of days the mail will be received such that the "mother" documents should come first before the supporting documents, otherwise it would be an orphaned document..
if money/cost is an issue, then, you may not send a new one and just wait for AHPRA to call you.. now, you know the obvious pros and cons if you do it this way, right? .....your choice/decision, and consider also the opinon of miks posted above.... good luck..
Hi.I am a newbie here :)
I have been meaning to apply for a nursing/caregiver job in Australia/New Zealand.
Any tips on how to process my application. Anyway, I've never had any hospital/clinical experience.
Thanks in advance :)
hello, what is it that you really want to be? RN? Caregiver? Engineer? ...if you want to be a caregiver/nursing assistant, i can answer that question, and in just 3 months you'll be here in australia... if you want to be an RN in Australia, well the answer was given to you earlier by another member..
so tell us wat is it you really want, so we can help you specifically... good luck...
got the letter from aphra yesterday finally after 7 months.. now the hunt for bridging course begins :)did i mention before that i applied thru aphra qld? and that it was a huge dilemma for me considering that there is no bp yet in qld, the good news is, it is anticipated that a bridging course will be available early this year..it makes me even happier! just a prefect b-day gift for me, hehe.. yeah today's my bday! have a great day everyone..
thats great news... patience does pay... ya knw, somethings happen for a reason which you will only realize at a later time.. qld must have bridges and bridging course because of the floods.. :-) corny..

how to be a caregiver/na?
Thanks to cioman94 and liaa, and to all for the unending support, guidance and answers we need. =)
@cioman94, am sorry. well i've read the whole thread before, i just can't find the part in which they're discussing about how to pay the fees and courier services. =)
next to do is to request for verification of license from PRC and Vermont State and IELTS from the British council to be forwarded directly to AHPRA =)
haays! still a long long way to go...but patience is a virtue, and its worth waiting for =)
nursing shortage in australia a myth? i want to back out from the bridging while i still can
