Hi everyone, please help me.
I graduated last march 2007 here in the Philippines and I have my license here already.
Because of oversupply of nurses here, it's too difficult to find a job.
That's why I'm looking forward to working in Australia or New Zealand.
However, I'm confused. Esp about Australia.
I already have my bachelors degree here.
When I go there in Aus to work as RN, must I take a diploma in nursing first? can I work while studying?
After obtaining my diploma there, am I already a registered nurse?
Thank you!
just a thought..Is it mandatory to get a student visa instead of a 456 visa if you're planning to go to deakin/la trobe?
I just want to make sure coz i don't have enough funds to qualify for a student visa. what i have is just enough for the 3-4 months stay.
Yes if the education provider is a CRICOS registered institution.
hi everyone.. i am starting to apply for Australia, i got some questions to ask,, hope you guys could help me.. thanks in advance.. i would like to ask if do you know what link at the AHPRA could tell me how or what documents i need to submit? if you could tell me what documents are to be submitted original or only certified copies and who can certify the documents? any lawyer will do? thanks you all again guyz...
Nursing Expo yesterday in Perth and guess what? Employers are not hiring fresh BP graduates more so if you need sponsorship. Most of the hospitals are offering "Graduate Nurse Program" option for those interested. If you're lucky enough to be accepted, you will be in the program for 52 weeks!.
By the way, my wife took the BP at Curtin University and she is currently on her last week of clinical placement which is to end on July 31.
Good for those who will be "absorbed" by the institutions where they had the clinical placement. But for most of the fresh BP graduates, even with a nursing board registration in sight, it will be a challenge finding an employer willing to sponsor a working visa.
Plenty of work in Aged Care sector though but as mentioned earlier, sponsorship is a different story.
Good luck everyone!
Hi green...if you already have in mind where in Oz you want to take the BP, contact the state's nursing board to comply with their requirements...upon positive assessment, they will send to you a letter advising you to complete registration by taking the BP at an accredited institution...from there, you can contact the course provider of your choice...by the way, this was the procedure last year...I am not aware if there have been changes already...good luck!

hi bling, is this unique to Perth ? coz this such a sad news.
Re GNP, it was offered by the hospitals during the Nursing Expo so I guess they accept overseas nurses.
Conversion which runs for a year is a better pathway for you have a full year to look for possible employers (while gaining local experience also).
The situation may be different in other states based on success stories of some forum members, so it could be unique to WA only (i could be wrong though).
Link below may affect future students and those wanting to pursue the OZ dream...
thank you for sharing bling...:) the WA issue has been partly discussed by some forumers days ago. . . yes, the situation is getting tough, I believe. I am one of the many hopefuls but for me, taking chances aint a bad idea if your dreams and future are at stake. . . . May God bless us all.
That's the spirit Milkyong! Go give it a shot....Hey everyone, let's take this as a challenge and don't let the info I shared stop anyone from taking the BP or Conversion. This setback may only be temporary and if you will just take your sweet time and wait for the situation to improve, it may be too late. Good luck and God Bless everyone.
