Hi everyone, please help me.
I graduated last march 2007 here in the Philippines and I have my license here already.
Because of oversupply of nurses here, it's too difficult to find a job.
That's why I'm looking forward to working in Australia or New Zealand.
However, I'm confused. Esp about Australia.
I already have my bachelors degree here.
When I go there in Aus to work as RN, must I take a diploma in nursing first? can I work while studying?
After obtaining my diploma there, am I already a registered nurse?
Thank you!
thanks for clarifying this query..... I need to strive hard to be promoted as a staff nurse
for now I need to focus more on my immunizations and IELTS)
correct me if I'm wrong, the AHPRA eligibility letter is good for 2 years (I'm planning to take my IELTS after sending my document s to the NWBA and my IELTS is good for 2 years also) I'm doing this method just in case I didn't get the all 7 scores in one sitting (most of my friends did not get the target score of 7 in the writing part)....assuming
sorry i didnt totally get your questions, anyway...
- i dont know if the ahpra eligibility is good for how many years,,,, just repost ur question or ask others.. or maybe its written in the website, i dont know.
- i also dont know if you can send application even if without ielts yet..
- if assuming its 2 years and that okey to send application even without ielts yet, then your "method" is fine.. just take note of how many months are you allowed to comply for the ielts from the time you sent application..

these questions popped into my head after back-reading some pages in this thread last week but apparently they are outdated because of the merging of AU nursing boards(July 1).....thanks for your replies cioman :) I'll wait for other members to further clarify this method.....
just have a question please.....
in what state/territory does most of the BP programs are available?
i know VICTORIA is one of them... is there another state where most of the forumers going to have their BP? South Australia? are those 2 the only states where our forumers here will have or having their BPs??

as far as i've been reading this thread, i know victoria is the greatest one for sure, in terms of numbers of uni that offer bp...
i was wondering about qld....they used to offer the cas ....and now what???
hi,
i've been lurking here for a week now trying to "see" the reality of a nursing job in Australia. So my big question is... How long did it take you (or your friend) to find a nursing job after being tagged as Div 1 Nurse? Did you have to go back home to do the search for future employers or where you able to find one right away after the BP? I am trying to do the math on where to spend USD10,000+ to find work and a future, just being practical. Thank you!
from my back-read infos on this thread, if my memory serves me right, it is indeed Victoria and Queensland who are the most sought after states because CAS was still offered back then in QLD, and Victoria as you already know has the most BP providers.
ive seen a list of BP providers all through out Aus. before, but i can no longer find it.

@nursenathalie, mikyong...... thank you...
@ossimanila.... situations change by minute... early this year, all the BP graduates that this thread had, were able to find work... but it was not that easy, you cannot really choose what area/type of position that you like, you have to grab what's there in front of you, one of the forumers here had to send 100+ applications to find a job... if you are lucky enaf to find job as soon as possible then your lucky indeed, other than that you must have money to stay in oz for the job hunting period... there's a story shared also to me that one of the grads went home here and tried to apply online here, sent a thousand applications and finally got a job.. the thing is, yes, they did all find a job, but it was an effort, not a picnic in the park.. it took them i think 1-2 mos...
however the biggest exception is that if you are a nurse with substantial experience (2-4 years esp. in a specialty area, and a paid employee, not a volunteer/trainee) then finding a job should be the least of your worry..
nonetheless, those are the things that ive relayed to you as shared to me... but if you want first hand information and answer to your question, wait till i find a job in oz, as you know, right now im a hunter not a lover, im hunting for a job, later na ang lover.. i'll share my story when i find one... for now.. its all up in the air...

@cioman94: thank you for this input.
So why do you think the Australian Board allow nurses with no experience to take up the BP only to find the nurses still jobless after BP and after USD10,000? And doesn't Australian hospitals utilize manpower agencies to recruit nurses? Do they just do direct hiring?
too many questions too little time!

why do you think schools keep accepting nursing students
why do you think PRC keeps on accepting nursing board examinees without experience yet only to find that they do not have any jobs in phils.
that's what gemini star pointed out... apple and orange... salt and sweet... two different things....
whether they hire you directly or via agency, who cares really, ....... the important question actually is whether you have the desirable qualifications that employers wanted for them to hire you...
