Hi everyone, please help me.
I graduated last march 2007 here in the Philippines and I have my license here already.
Because of oversupply of nurses here, it's too difficult to find a job.
That's why I'm looking forward to working in Australia or New Zealand.
However, I'm confused. Esp about Australia.
I already have my bachelors degree here.
When I go there in Aus to work as RN, must I take a diploma in nursing first? can I work while studying?
After obtaining my diploma there, am I already a registered nurse?
Thank you!
NOW, I NEED HELP..
ATTENTION THOSE WHO ALREADY OBTAINED AUS. VISA...
Regarding the submission of birth certificate to the Australian Embassy, does the birth certificate has to be "authenticated by DFA"?? we call it "red ribbon"?? does it have to be that when applying for Oz visa??
im in a bad mood bkoz just tonight, i learned that my "authenticated birth certificate" is missing, misplaced,,, goodness i spent thousands of pesos for that!!...
PLS HELP CLARIFY...
Thanks....
only the certified true copy of the birth certificate made by the lawyer is needed. relax!
im about to take anti-hypertensive meds as a result of my problem, good thing i read your reply, so, i will request for a NSO birth certificate and have it certified by a lawyer then will use it when i apply for visa (when will i apply, i dont know)..
thanks for the quick reply... now i can sleep....
try La trobe University and University of Ballarat
...even if I have no nursing experience? (currently I'm on a trainee status for 1 month in a tertiary hospital)
P.S : do AHPRA/employers in AU count work experience as a nursing assistant (puzzled in my mind I don't remember anyone posted this question)

Hi cioman,
You only need to submit a copy of the birthcert, the one from NSO. I processed mine in Cebu's VIA center. You have to bring the original copy as the officer will verify it that way. My NSO copy was not even authenticated. Getting NSO birthcert only takes 3 days and costs less than 200 if you do it yourself, about 500 if thru an agency. I have tried both ways. VIA returned my copied NSO birthcert along with the passport with visa. But just to be safe as I'm not sure how it goes in other VIA centers, bring the original and the copy (if you want it authenticated then have it notarized no red ribbon from DFA needed).
Goodluck! ü
guys.. given that i have my business visa (short stay)..i'm entitled to study the BP for three months, right? What happens after that? How do I apply for a Skilled Visa? Do i need to go back to the Philippines? pls enlighten me on this matter..thanks![/quote- after BP, you go through the hardship of applying for job as what im suffering now.. in the meantime, you try to apply for extension of your business visa, now it all boils down to the decision of the immigraion officer, but they are allowed to grant you extension.. if your very lucky such that you found an employer prior the expiry of your showbiz visa, then you can validly apply for a so-called "bridging visa"...this is considering that you already have an employer and that you will be processing the "appropriate visa" to be able to work.. thus while waiting for the release of the "appropriate visa" which will allow you to work, you are given bridging visa to allow you to stay legally in Oz..
- what do i mean by "appropriate visa"?.... usually and in most cases of forumers here, they applied and obtained 457 work visa which could be process within 30 days from the date you applied for that visa (meaning, not yet included in that 30 days, are the days you were waiting and processing other stuff).. therefore, you are allowed to work but you are not a permanent resident,.. you may apply for PR later on, no problems..
- another appropriate visa is an ENS or employer sponsored visa.. this is will make you automatically a permanent resident, if you are approved of this.. the problem is, rarely does employer do this and if ever they do, it will take not 30 days but a million days to process (now can you afford to live in aus waiting and not working, if so then okey, otherwise, better go back home and wait for this kind of visa to be released say, 6-9 months.).
- the important thing is that you must not stay in oz without visa, and you must apply for appropriate visa prior the expiry of your existing visa.
- some nurses, went home and just applied here online, then came back when they got already an employer.. just like what javRN's classmate had done after BP..
- nonetheless, i dont know exactly know what you mean by "skilled visa" (e.g. RSMS, ENS, SM, ..... robinsons, ayala..).. I have that same question that you have right now when i was still younger in this thread.. i hope i clarified your mind..
good luck..

- strictly speaking, they will not count it as an official RN experience, but as a nursing assistant experience..
- but for purposes of applying for employment, to enhance your resume, you can include it.. but when it comes to counting the number of years of experience relative to the negotiation of salary, that will not counted..
