Hi everyone, please help me.
I graduated last march 2007 here in the Philippines and I have my license here already.
Because of oversupply of nurses here, it's too difficult to find a job.
That's why I'm looking forward to working in Australia or New Zealand.
However, I'm confused. Esp about Australia.
I already have my bachelors degree here.
When I go there in Aus to work as RN, must I take a diploma in nursing first? can I work while studying?
After obtaining my diploma there, am I already a registered nurse?
Thank you!
Nope. I didn't. I called them after a week or so -and then almost every other day after that becuase they told me to -and they just basically told me they can only offer a seat on October. I was directed to the Program Manager or something like that when I was still opting for an earlier intake. I'm not sure if she's still trying to squeeze me in the earlier ones. But I now prefer the October intake. I haven't received the formal offer though. Maybe i'll be interviewed too :). But they never mentioned anything of that sort during those times i called them.
Ask dred if he had an interview, he's in for the sept intake. Or reiken he was offered a seat for the oct intake.
for the meantime, i'm checkin on alpine health. :)
Try William Light institute offered by Univ. of ballarat. They still have slots.I got accepted this September. After the ETEA interview, they said they will keep in touch. So i am waiting and considering the two schools.
is everything done online? is there an application fee? (Alpine Health doesn't have one). Is work experience required? Alpine Health prefers nurses with work experience but they do entertain new grads.
Google... Google... Google. :)
@LITHOTOMY
What does CERTIFIED COPIES OF ACADEMIC QUALIFICATION mean?
transcript? diploma? RLE?
what documents did you attach in your La Trobe application aside from IELTS?
@NewMac
Can our pedia issue a medical certificate stating that we have history of mumps, rubella, chixpox? is that acceptable?
ETEA doesnt have a credit card payment option? How did you pay yours?
Muchas Gracias:)
Hi, guys! I'm still in the middle of trying to complete my immunisation... I must admit, trying to secure all these inoculations is by far the next most challenging part for me in this whole process money-wise... I have to avail of every vaccine in the list since I didn't have a baby/pedia record and poor mom doesn't even recall if she had me immunised when I was younger... Worse, even if I did have chicken pox before when I was about 10, still there was no medical record to present as I was only treated at home...I scrapped the idea of getting a serology test as this would only incur a not-so-reasonable additional cost comparable to procuring the actual vaccines themselves after a much-careful inquiry... Now, I'm not really too sure whether they (ETEA's accredited clinical placement partners) are strict with regards to the completeness of the students' immunisation records as I am having a difficulty with obtaining a separate polio vaccine... You see, most of the clinics that I inquired to no longer offer the said vaccine due to its shelf-life and most of the vaccines that are combined with the polio antigen are only given to kids... Hmmm... in contemplation mode for this... Hehehe!
Btw, there is a greater likelihood that I'll have my medicals today prior to the lodging of my visa application which would be 2 weeks after my medicals... I'm still on schedule though ;-) Goodluck to all of us, guys! And, I guess we'll see one another there! Hey, NewMac, bro... looks like we're going to be classmates after all! Kewl!

Reiken! I can just foresee how "bloody" the expenses will be if we avail all these immunisations for ETEA. Really? Serology tests would cost more as compared to obtaining the required vaccines? How come? And yes, I quite agree that it's hard procuring the polio vaccine.
I guess we need the help of imsodizzy about this concern. We are all wondering now whether ETEA's strict with the record of vaccines or not.
@dumb: You can pay the Assessment Fee thru credit card. Just email an authorization letter (just like NBV's credit card payment format) and include important details like the type (Mastercard or visa), 16-digit card number, expiry date, name of cardholder, signature and the date you signed the authorization. That's what I did and ETEA responded to me by emailing me a receipt of the assessment fee of AUD $150.

No, there is no application fee. I am not very sure about work experience.
Ok... I think I'm becoming too laid back with the immunization requirement. There are basically two ways on satisfying this requirement, right? One is taking all the vaccines once again and the other is testing for antibodies -because you're not sure if you're actually immunized and/or no records are available -reasons for both options. Please correct me if im wrong. Paging chabeli and ryan09.@reiken serology test is expensive?? how much? This is the convenient way of doing it, right? But is this an acceptable proof / way of satisfying the requirement? and, I think I'll use this one -i wish all antibodies are present from a-z:lol2:
.
on being classmates. i'm hopin. :)
@drednag how did you go about yours, dude?
@anyad i replied to your PM
hope this matter of immunization will be clarified as i also have limited knowledge on this. For now, this is what i understood:
1) as mentioned earlier, it is cheaper to have the vaccinations instead of getting serology tests??
2) many pages ago, i remember somebody warned to plan your vaccinations as it is not advisable to get all of the vaccines in one day, there should be gaps.. that's what i remember about the said post..
in this case, i should start the vaccination shots to have intervals..
hope others will clarify this.. thanks..
