Hi everyone, please help me.
I graduated last march 2007 here in the Philippines and I have my license here already.
Because of oversupply of nurses here, it's too difficult to find a job.
That's why I'm looking forward to working in Australia or New Zealand.
However, I'm confused. Esp about Australia.
I already have my bachelors degree here.
When I go there in Aus to work as RN, must I take a diploma in nursing first? can I work while studying?
After obtaining my diploma there, am I already a registered nurse?
Thank you!
Hey, Reiken and Newmac...have you processed your visas already, dudes?
no, i haven't applied for the 456. it's kinda tough doin everythin on your own.how's yours? hope it's approved! :) im not sure if reiken has applied for one, i probably missed his post.
hehehe, I havent filed mine either..still making sure I submit all requirements needed...dont want to miss anything.Best of luck, dude!
Sure, you don't. Of course, I can use some advise when it's my turn to apply. :)
Hi, guys! I'm still in the middle of trying to complete my immunisation... I must admit, trying to secure all these inoculations is by far the next most challenging part for me in this whole process money-wise... I have to avail of every vaccine in the list since I didn't have a baby/pedia record and poor mom doesn't even recall if she had me immunised when I was younger... Worse, even if I did have chicken pox before when I was about 10, still there was no medical record to present as I was only treated at home...
I scrapped the idea of getting a serology test as this would only incur a not-so-reasonable additional cost comparable to procuring the actual vaccines themselves after a much-careful inquiry... Now, I'm not really too sure whether they (ETEA's accredited clinical placement partners) are strict with regards to the completeness of the students' immunisation records as I am having a difficulty with obtaining a separate polio vaccine... You see, most of the clinics that I inquired to no longer offer the said vaccine due to its shelf-life and most of the vaccines that are combined with the polio antigen are only given to kids... Hmmm... in contemplation mode for this... Hehehe!
Btw, there is a greater likelihood that I'll have my medicals today prior to the lodging of my visa application which would be 2 weeks after my medicals... I'm still on schedule though ;-) Goodluck to all of us, guys! And, I guess we'll see one another there! Hey, NewMac, bro... looks like we're going to be classmates after all! Kewl!
if the new board will not commit error with my license, it will expire 30 April 2011, subsequently, all nursing license will expire in one year every 30th of May.. the major requirement needed is the 20 CPE units.. I could not acquire that units if im here in phils., thus, must be there in Oz to obtain the 20 hours/units prior license expiry..
omg. i guess if you get your license you really have to be head strong to land a job.
Anybody here who will study at University of Queensland? It's a 1-Year Conversion Program for Overseas Qualified Professional Educated Nurses. The intake is on 11 February 2011 until November.
hey, i posted several days ago asking about UQ and no one replied:crying2: hahaha
read up on it and looks like a great school. but considering the length of the program and that jobs are not that easy to come by, i think it's better to take the bp. ive read up that even new aussie grads have a hard time getting a job.
what do you think?
i still have to decide, waiting on the july announcement. but if i take the conversion, well be classmates if you take it too :)

Ok... I think I'm becoming too laid back with the immunization requirement. There are basically two ways on satisfying this requirement, right? One is taking all the vaccines once again and the other is testing for antibodies -because you're not sure if you're actually immunized and/or no records are available -reasons for both options. Please correct me if im wrong. Paging chabeli and ryan09.
@reiken serology test is expensive?? how much? This is the convenient way of doing it, right? But is this an acceptable proof / way of satisfying the requirement? and, I think I'll use this one -i wish all antibodies are present from a-z:lol2:.
on being classmates. i'm hopin. :)
@drednag how did you go about yours, dude?

first of all, we have to wait for 01 July for the final list of policies on registration, however, the requirements are more or less the same like IELTS score of 7 in each subjects, NBI clearance (criminal check), and others, actually it almost similar, so far they dont require experience which is good news..., just have to wait for July for final instrutions and details, like the forms to be used, the address where you will send it, etc... of course definitely, all overseas nurse will have to undergo BP except for i bet UK and perhaps Singapore nurses.. so in the meantme relax for awhile, they are very busy right now, i dont think they would be able to immediately take care of applications in the first 2 months due to the workload (like releasing of licenses of existing RNs, etc.)..
so relax and stay tuned.. commercial break muna..
