Hi everyone, please help me.
I graduated last march 2007 here in the Philippines and I have my license here already.
Because of oversupply of nurses here, it's too difficult to find a job.
That's why I'm looking forward to working in Australia or New Zealand.
However, I'm confused. Esp about Australia.
I already have my bachelors degree here.
When I go there in Aus to work as RN, must I take a diploma in nursing first? can I work while studying?
After obtaining my diploma there, am I already a registered nurse?
Thank you!
@chocokat79Definitely. And by July NBV will cease to exist and will be replaced and managed under a unified authority. So far according to La Trobe, there are no news as of yet as to what the changes will be, however, there seems to be no reason to worry.
Thanks for the reply Haoyin! Miss yah!
hello! your referees will be your BP CIs and your staff nurse buddy during your clinical placement. it is better if he/she is the nurse unit manager of your ward. employer will really call them and ask your performance during the placement...so be good and do your best during your clinical! by the way, ask permission first before writing their names as your referees. good luck!
when we apply for work in Aus we need 3 professional referees (am i ryt? 3?), with their permission we will write their name and contact number in our resume because employer will contact them..
other than that, are we required to submit a "written reference"?? if so, is it required to submit a written reference using the hospital's letterhead??.. im inquiring this because it's a bit hard to get a letterhead reference as compared to just writing their name in our resume.
Thanks much..
on the contrary cioman was a fresh grad at that time. that's why i am so amazed with this guy. well i wish him luck. i hope he will get employment here in Oz soon.
yes i am confirming what was posted about me.. it is just one in a million.. my previous office work/job trained me how to prepare documents "beautifully" and how to prepare "letters" persuasively. As we would remember, we must apply like we are applying for a job, convince them first that you are good even if you're just half of that, there's no harm for trying, sometimes you're lucky sometimes you're not.. nonetheless i did post and disclose my this matter several pages ago as javRN had indeed remembered i disclosed it in the pages in this thread..
i have 7 months volunteer and 6 mos. ICU training "experience"..
the downside is that, i have no first hand experience of Oz nursing, thus, i kept on reading books including the QNC CAS books, and just kept on reading whatever that is important.. that's why i was asking javRN for help on how things go about in an aged care homes.. hope javRN would teach me.. praying for that..
The only way to waive the bp before is by having a new Zealand license or graduating bsn from select European countries. Even topnotchers or graduates from leading unis in our country are required to undergo bp. This program is considered part of continuing professional education (CPE) that's why aus accepts even the fresh graduates. If by some kind of mystic force someone was able to waive bp other than those stated above, I doubt if this person can ever find an employer. In the remotest rural area perhaps???
yes, that's my greatest fear right now, that's why im praying hours everyday for luck.. at worst, i may find job in the super remote area as mentioned.. tsk tsk.. crossing my fingers.. but then again, on the bright side, it's better than the desert of the middle east plus better pay.. anyway.. sigh..
Yeah, I remember reading about your case Cioman and I salute you, bro.... have you been to NT already? Darwin is a beautiful city, I fell in love with it the first time I was there...anyway, I heard that there are several vacancies for nurses there? or are you planning on getting a job somewhere else in Oz?
Whatever your plans may be, I wish you all the best.

thanks.. still here in Davao, i completed my ICU training because i want to have some sort of competence before
applying for Oz, i want my resume to have substance when i send it.. presently, im preparing pertinent docus that i would need for application/resume.. in fact, i had just finished my AHA BLS ACLS training which i hope would
boost my credentials.. by end of june i will be attending 1st Aid training of Phil. Red Cross (hope to see forum member kristeeta there)..
jobhunting in Oz as we all now is very competitive already, so i just hope to find a job whether its Darwin or some
other else, hopefully no the rural remote area.. Darwin would be fine because it's near Singapore then Davao City,
that would be a short flight..
everything hinges on prayers, i mean it really, i really pray a lot hoping for the best..
thanks again.. good luck to all of us..
