New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand

Updated:   Published

Hi everyone, please help me.

I graduated last march 2007 here in the Philippines and I have my license here already.

Because of oversupply of nurses here, it's too difficult to find a job.

That's why I'm looking forward to working in Australia or New Zealand.

However, I'm confused. Esp about Australia.

I already have my bachelors degree here.

When I go there in Aus to work as RN, must I take a diploma in nursing first? can I work while studying?

After obtaining my diploma there, am I already a registered nurse?

Thank you!

Hi, I'm a new grad nurse who passed the local board exam. I would like to know how much it will cost to apply for Australia.

I am thinking I will apply in Queensland because I read here that it has the most affordable bridging program.

After I get my Queensland license, I plan to apply for RSMS.

I need help because I want to apply on my own.

silly question here (icebreaker)

is it gonna be a problem if i had my application form filled out the typewritter way. I have a bad penmanship.

everything is causing paranoia.... :(

i just got here in australia last sept.23. up to now clueless . i went to nmba in south australia and they told me to go to UniSA so i could study for another 2 yrs., since i dont have any working experience in the philippines. somebody told me aged care for 3 months.

i need help pls....i need enlightenment.

btw, im a 2nd courser and i'm under spouse visa.

sorry about my previous post....

i'm just looking for some enlightenment regarding my situation here in south australia. got here 3 months ago and went to NMBA-SA. they told me to go to University of South Australia where I could study so i could be a Registered Nurse here. i was told that i'll be needing to study for 2yrs or less since i just graduated and have no previous experience. but an acquaintance told me to just study a certificate course for 3months which is aged care, and after that i could be a PMA or sort of a caregiver in the Philippines. another friend told me to just study Enrolled Nurse, which is one step lower to RN, since university education would really cost me a lot.

need some help. need some suggestions. thanks.

hi, try applying interstate it might be easier, cheaper and faster...

for your perusal, just read the previous pages...;)

or contact this number PMC education, its based in melbourne, theyre helping filipino nurses to enrol in courses that would lead to registration as a nurse in australia and etc...might be worth it...:)

Note: to mods, you can erase my post if my posting of contact number of an organisaton is inappropriate..thanks

thanks ryan09. i'll give them a ring tomorrow so i could inquire about it. i'm really left clueless here. my hubby has no knowledge about anything with nursing here in SA. i'm really hoping to meet even 1 filipino nurse who could help me and shed some insights, but to no avail. i'm getting depressed and impatient....

no dont be depressed...there are a variety of ways for you to do...by the way have you got an ielts results already?

you can also google IDP:Australia and look for their number in SA or any state...contact them cos they are helping overseas nurses as well...they only help overseas nurses who havent got permanent residency yet...

all the best.

hmmm...now I am confused...I answered yes...oh no...

hi, forumjunkie...I'm still trying to decide whether or not to submit my application to QNC because I have already submitted my application to NMBWA and NBV. I was about to mail my QNC application but I realized I still lack several required documents. I have to hurry because I think PRC mailed my Verification to QNC already.

How about you, forumjunkie?

Is Queensland Nursing Council still accepting applicants?

I read sumthing about Queensland having a deadline or sumthing.. in this thread.. im not sure.....can sumone pleaase confirm?:D

sis i think it's something like, because of the new registration process that will commence in July 2010, QNC no longer accepts application for registration starting Nov. because i think if an applicant applies later than Nov, doing the bridging program wont be doable anymore.

you're trying this pathway? :D
