Hi everyone, please help me.
I graduated last march 2007 here in the Philippines and I have my license here already.
Because of oversupply of nurses here, it's too difficult to find a job.
That's why I'm looking forward to working in Australia or New Zealand.
However, I'm confused. Esp about Australia.
I already have my bachelors degree here.
When I go there in Aus to work as RN, must I take a diploma in nursing first? can I work while studying?
After obtaining my diploma there, am I already a registered nurse?
Thank you!
thanks a lot! :)
i just realized last night.... before i fedex'd my docs...
...that the application form has changed.
especially the initial registration details part where it asks now:
did the course of study lead to initial registration (initial license to practice) in the state/country where your qualification was completed?
please tick relevant box
yes (please provide details below) no (please enclose a written explanation)
i tick no
then i attached a letter stating that:
"license to practice nursing in the philippines is granted only after completing approrpiate course of study, successfully passing the nurses' licensure examination conducted by the noard of nursing - professional regulation commision and subsequent registration."
then still provided my regitration details on the boxes provided in the application form.
did i understand the question the right way?
I saw an ad in the Philippine Daily Inquirer

hmmm...now i am confused...i answered yes...oh no...
^^
i ticked yes..
the question is asking about the study/course that we have completed. if the course/program is a pre requisite for us to be eligible to gain registration as nurses..and then explaination stating the license number and everything...(i cant even remember if i have made an explaination, all i can remember was i ticked yes, and my application was approved)...
dont worry guys if theres something wrong with your application NBV will surely seek further explaination and or more information to support your declared data..:)
ok. i will have it changed.
Sorry for bringing confusion guys. I called up NBV and me thinks they are also confused with this specific mdoification.
[if interpreted this way]
Because in other countries, having the diploma/certificate after graduation means they already have license to practice. While in other contries like the Phil and the USA, education plus examination and subsequent registration is required before a license is granted.
I intertepreted it as if the question is asking me if the completion of the course study (ONLY) will mean or lead (autonmatically) to intial registration/license. (having learned the ways/practice in other countries.)
Say for example in Austalia, Victorian grads are entitled to registration after graduation. All they need to do is to register. (correct me if im wrong)
But as LISA (my favorite NBV customer service rep) said...
they are just asking if our course study qualifies us to be RN (regardless of the "post" graduation activities that we have to do i.e. exams etc in order for us to be RN -If I remember the conversation right.) or atleast qualifies us to apply for the exam -to be RN.
Cheers!
