New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand

Updated:   Published

Hi everyone, please help me.

I graduated last march 2007 here in the Philippines and I have my license here already.

Because of oversupply of nurses here, it's too difficult to find a job.

That's why I'm looking forward to working in Australia or New Zealand.

However, I'm confused. Esp about Australia.

I already have my bachelors degree here.

When I go there in Aus to work as RN, must I take a diploma in nursing first? can I work while studying?

After obtaining my diploma there, am I already a registered nurse?

Thank you!

@kuchi At least you got your letter. Im still waiting hehe..i did all the reading first..wish i sent my application first. May i ask when you sent your applicatino and how long did it take you to receive it? Does NBV send a receipt for the payment first or does it come with the application?

I got mine approximately 3 months of sending some additional docs, plus of course the unceasing emails of follow up so that they will prioritize your application.I paid mine in melbourne, using a cheque that's why local post was used.Payment comes with the application then they will send you an acnkowledgement.ANMC took a while for their assessment,NBV is much faster.

thanks for that info. Im kinda scared to pester them with alot of email but i emailed them and they said 28 business day is the normal length. How many emails did you send and did they tell you who was handling your case? Did you email your case manager or the generic email in NBV?

@anyad,hi sorry can't send you pm yet,but anyway i got my NBV letter almost three months from the time i applied. They were making sure about the job description and experience.Mas mabilis sila sa ANMC.Just let me know if you need some help!:coollook:

@kuchi thank you for your reply. So im guessing the letter might arrive next year for me? really 3 months. i was hoping for 28 business days as well hehe.

I emailed my case manager almost three times week and asked for more additional inquiries.they are prompt in answering your email,it's ok to send them email every now and then.It will help a lot to hasten your application plus you will get to monitor your docs.

@kuchi how do you inquire for your case manager? [for your application]

@kuchi how do you inquire for your case manager? [for your application]

When they send the acknowledgement letter it will be stated in the letter your case manager or registration officer. Then address to them your concern thru email c/o NBV then they will reply straight away thru their personal account, viola!get in touch with them directly.

@ kuchi thanks!

actually, im still preparing my docs.

i have my diploma (certificate) and transcript in red ribbon (DFA) do i give that one?

for the license: do i just photocopy it and have it certified as true copy?

i wish i could send all docs by next week. i could use any advise from all those who have received their letter.

cheers!

All your documents should be certified true copy (notarized)even if its just photocopy as long as it it notarized they will accept it.Also request a good standing from PRC on your current license and let PRC send it to them(one more reason of delay lol!).And another thing you must request a copry of the result of English exam send by the testing center straight to NBV.If you have all the checklist of documents needed you will be fine.Good luck.

so ordinary "ctc" by notary will be fine. No need for the red ribbon thing by DFA thing.

Good standing is the same as the Verification of License right? or is it a different thing?

anyway, for Verification of License, NBV does not provide any form that PRC can fill out. Does PRC have its own form for this one? (silly question). Im pretty sure with all the requests they're receiving they should know every requirement of any board of nursing in any country.

Yes same with verification of license, just give them the address of NBV not the PO Box coz you will just waste your fed ex(normally they schedule pick up on their box that's why your express is of no use) use their office address.I did not red ribbon any thing in my docs.
