Hi everyone, please help me.
I graduated last march 2007 here in the Philippines and I have my license here already.
Because of oversupply of nurses here, it's too difficult to find a job.
That's why I'm looking forward to working in Australia or New Zealand.
However, I'm confused. Esp about Australia.
I already have my bachelors degree here.
When I go there in Aus to work as RN, must I take a diploma in nursing first? can I work while studying?
After obtaining my diploma there, am I already a registered nurse?
Thank you!
what's the 7000 AUD$ whole program? just the review or does it include the other expenditures (assessment fees, housing, plane, etc.).. if it's only the review itself, well that's usuriously expensive..
As far as I know, it doesn't include the air fare and accommodation. The majority of it goes to what they call "processing fees". And according to them, they don't have placement fees... but they forgot to emphasize that they just charge a large sum of money for the processing. lol. :chuckle
Although expensive, it would still benefit the inexperienced ones for employment purposes. Those who have at least 1 year experience is okay without any help from any agency as they can apply through agencies abroad. Most of them require 1 year experience at the very least.
Well you have some point with taking the challenge test first. You won't have to pay as much anyway - at least it wont be as high as the agency's fees. If you are lucky and passed the first part then thats great, if not, you can always take the modules. By the way, it's only 905 AUD per module and the current exchange rate is 1 AUD = 33.8766. That's roughly 30k -31k only per module opposed to the 40k.
That's a rough estimation but I think AUD is equivalent to 37.8 pesos. You must talking about NZ dollar that is equivalent to 33.5 pesos. So roughly 40K for each module.
im willing to study again for 2 years in the UK, aus or canada. Do they accept students who already have a BSN though?
hi. im here in the Philippines and currently a volunteer in one of the Hospitals here. ive never been to Australia. at the time of my application, i just left the sorta history of employment part blank...but i sent copies of my license and practically every document that could certify that i was a very "competent" student in my Univ...if you have certificates or awards related to Nursing that could probably help too but it's not really required. no need to send a CV.

is this the assessment thing they do wherein u have to go to australia? i read somethng about 7000 AUD in the new south wales board for assessment program.
actually the new rate of The College of Nursing in Burwood which offers the competence assessment program is 10,000 AUD and you have to reserve 6-9 months beforehand because it is always full. That's why despite being accepted by the council Im also thinking of lodging an application for QNC because the modules are cheaper. hmmm does anybody have any idea about these modules? like does it have tests? or does it guarantee registration after its completion?
i have to make a decision whether to proceed with NSW or start from scratch sa QNC this month...i desperately need help
thanks!
Hi hotpotato101. There is this training school that I just discovered which claims to be the only one which gives review in the Phils. The reviewers, in fact, come from Queensland Nursing Council (QNC) itself. This school also acts sort of an agent to QNC. Btw, what is name of the agency you have attended in the past, maybe we are referring to the same thing.
Has QNC responded to your application yet? How much time did it take for them to respond?
Hi. Can you PM me what is the name of the agency? Thanks!

i attended the said seminar in renaissance last sunday. from what i understand, au$7,000 includes qnc registration fee, cas review and exam fee and guaranteed employment by nts. it's more expensive than doing it on our own, but we are guaranteed of employment once we passed cas. although they failed to elaborate more on how the employment contract will be (duration, salary per hour, etc), i think we can ask the manila office more about this. i will be going there tom after attending the seminar of an australian consultancy which offers same. i want to compare what both are offering.

Nope. The exchange rate is going down. You can double check with http://www.xe.com
Come July 2010 Australia will have the National Registration and the Government is already on their way of implementing this. You may check this link from the New South Wales Nurse Registration Board:http://www.nmb.nsw.gov.au/National-Registration/default.aspx
This is happening in 2010 but we need to concentrate on what is required now
