New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand

Updated:   Published

Hi everyone, please help me.

I graduated last march 2007 here in the Philippines and I have my license here already.

Because of oversupply of nurses here, it's too difficult to find a job.

That's why I'm looking forward to working in Australia or New Zealand.

However, I'm confused. Esp about Australia.

I already have my bachelors degree here.

When I go there in Aus to work as RN, must I take a diploma in nursing first? can I work while studying?

After obtaining my diploma there, am I already a registered nurse?

Thank you!

jay, my first question is when will be your visa expire? if it has an expiry date better for you to obtain a new one...it will be easier now cos you are here in australia. of course everyone is welcome to submit their documents and have it assessed by the NBV..:)

as far as i know, swan hill is a regional place? im not really familliar about the swan hill area, but if its a sub urb of melbourne then i think it woud be fine as there are a lot of transportation available throughout the melbourne metro and nearby areas...

yes, even if you are a holder of permanent residency visa or even if you are an australian citizen, if you are educated overseas and would seek registration in victoria or anywhere in australia you are still in the international trained nurse category..however, the good news is, if you are a PR or citizen, you can apply for a scholarship of $2000 and a tuition fee loan from the government, meaning you will be able to do the BP without any cost at all..:)

@ryan

it will expire this 30th of november. good thing about it is that i already have my bridging visa meaning i can stay here until the decision is made regarding my application for the new visa..

i think i cant avail that 2k aud for now bcoz im not yet a PR.

next tng i have to do is book for my ielts exam and pass it so my docs will be complete and get my verification letter to PRC PI.

thanks ryan

hi! the best thing for you to do this time is gather all your documents needed for the application. since that you are a second courser. esp. your tor, most poster have difficulty of the nursing course breakdown. prc initial registration certificates, verification certificate, police clearance, passport/birth certicate and diploma. am i forgetting something guys? feel free to help me out here. hehehe. these are the highlighted docs that you should have it notarize. and be sure the notarization is complete, with all the information of the signing officer. name, phone #, address, date etc. nbv will process your docs. even if you don't have ielts yet. (as per posted earlier by other forumers) i hope this would help you.:loveya:;)

thanx so much.... one other thing... if i apply, for the bridging program would i be able to bring my bf with me? he is also a second courser and a nursing graduate but he still does not have a license.... some sites told me that i could bring him but only if i pass as a skilled visa.... is it true??

thanks again... at least now i know where to start....

Hello everyone,

I'm a newly registered member and this is my very first post. I have plans of taking the bridging program in Queensland and I want to file my application by 2nd quarter next year. I heard from friends (and read some previous posts) that the program will end by June next year and that deadline for filing is on end of November this year. Is this true?

Thanks in advance.

To those who submitted the additional document COURSE DESCRIPTION and a transferee or a 2nd courser:

Do I need to send a separate course description from the first school of nursing i attended for 1 year,aside from the school wherein i graduated and studied for 4 years.I'm a transferee.

Thanks.

for nbv, i know you can pass without ielts because i didn't pass my ielts. notice that in their application checklist, an ielts result is not yet needed. submit only what's in the checklist.[/quote

@chabeli

so you mean u havent pass ur ielts to nbv and yet you can enroll to latrobe without your ielts?

am i right? correct me if im wrong.

thanks

do i have to include a police/nbi clearance in my initial application? other posters have stated that qnc requested them to provide police clearance when qnc received the application. should i include the police clearance on the application or should i just wait until they ask for a police clearance?

Yes, it is a requirement already according to QNC: http://www.qnc.qld.gov.au/

does it have to be original or a certified copy? and what type of nbi clearance? i have the one for local employment. i also have a police clearance for local employment. would that be good enough?

Either the certified copy or original is accepted. I think they require the overseas clearance and not for local.
