New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand

Updated:   Published

Hi everyone, please help me.

I graduated last march 2007 here in the Philippines and I have my license here already.

Because of oversupply of nurses here, it's too difficult to find a job.

That's why I'm looking forward to working in Australia or New Zealand.

However, I'm confused. Esp about Australia.

I already have my bachelors degree here.

When I go there in Aus to work as RN, must I take a diploma in nursing first? can I work while studying?

After obtaining my diploma there, am I already a registered nurse?

Thank you!

Thanks Sashi for replying,I am actually expecting that i need re-do the whole notarization process again,i was aware that i miss the telephone no. but it was too late.I asked already my school to make an course description, and by this week i'll be sending the additional requirements.Overall,it is still a positve assessment. ;)

Hi Unadunad,

I suggest you have a read. This thread is aimed at assisting nurses wanting to work in either Australia and New Zealand. things are going to change in Australia next year when the central licensing plan hopefully comes into affect. You need to decide where you want to live and work and then see what you have to do to meet that country's nursing requirements

hello gemini,i'm not a second courser. :D

no, not yet. but probably this year. im not sure if they will process after january 2010. to be sure, just pass before dec 2009 ends. that's what i will do

Yeah, I actually have almost all the documents ready, I just lack the IELTS. I'm taking it in November. I will definitely submit my documents before December 2009 ends. Good luck!

Hi guys! I have a problem with the notarization, can i put the notarization details at the back portion of each document? im applying at NBV.

i have read posts that said that there might be different requirements/procedures for 2010... i am planning of applying in victoria since most fresh grads apply there... but im a second courser and was wondering if what they said before that no second coursers are accepted is true... also do i have to take the IELTS first before i apply for the initial registration in victoria? :sniff: i really need help.. since i dont know anyone who has applied in oz...

btw, all you guys are a big help.. i may be a newbie here but i somewhat got an idea from what you all guys did... thanks so much... :loveya:

hi! the best thing for you to do this time is gather all your documents needed for the application. since that you are a second courser. esp. your tor, most poster have difficulty of the nursing course breakdown. prc initial registration certificates, verification certificate, police clearance, passport/birth certicate and diploma. am i forgetting something guys? feel free to help me out here. hehehe. these are the highlighted docs that you should have it notarize. and be sure the notarization is complete, with all the information of the signing officer. name, phone #, address, date etc. nbv will process your docs. even if you don't have ielts yet. (as per posted earlier by other forumers) i hope this would help you.:loveya:;)

Thanks Aelith for the info. about Curtin's Bridging program,i emailed them 2 days ago about hospital experience requirement but now i know :yeah:

Curtin's bridging program is too long(1 semester) but still a good choice to those planning to apply without hospital experience.

DOH requires 2 years experience to attend their courses,BP fee is 2,300 $

Just wanna share.

hy to everyone on this thread

@unadunad
