New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand

Updated:   Published

Hi everyone, please help me.

I graduated last march 2007 here in the Philippines and I have my license here already.

Because of oversupply of nurses here, it's too difficult to find a job.

That's why I'm looking forward to working in Australia or New Zealand.

However, I'm confused. Esp about Australia.

I already have my bachelors degree here.

When I go there in Aus to work as RN, must I take a diploma in nursing first? can I work while studying?

After obtaining my diploma there, am I already a registered nurse?

Thank you!

Congratulations dudzy, it's so nice to know that you made it by your own:clphnds:. NO AGENTS. By the way dudzy, can you expand or inform me more about the financial statements from the bank:

1. Can I use another person's bank statement? (in pesos)?

2. About "show money", where will they ask you to show? In the philippine side (going thru immigration),

or in australia (immigration)?

I think this will also benefit others going thru the trip by themselves. NO AGENTS.

Thank you so much for the big help in giving us details of your success. More power.

You can use another person's bank statement just let that person sign an affidavit of support for you.. You need to show that bank statement when you apply for the visa there in the Philippines to prove that you have the funds to stay here..

Congrats Dudzy!

hi dudzy,

would you know some room for rent around etea area? if i remember right, you stayed with your cousin and took the train daily? how much are the rates of the rooms around there?

I called up NBV earlier today and was told that my papers are already on its final stages of assessment and i should be hearing from them soon. Hopefully, everything goes well as I am catching up for January intake... Or if there's a november intake, I will still try.

thanks, again.

Hi Dudzy

I am here in Melbourne currently waiting for my registration in Queensland. May I know your contact details cause I don't have a sponsor yet and my stay is due until 2nd week of October thank you! Maybe if I can apply to your employer. Thank you so much!!!!!! Congratulations!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am sorry I really have no idea as to the rates but I guess that will depend on what type of accommodation you want.. My classmates who were renting were paying $120-150/week excluding food.. What i also know is that you need to sign a contract with an agent the property manager.. Just check with the websites to be sure..

hi, most of the landlords will ask for a bond money, others may ask for a deposit or an advance payment...most commonly, a bond money will be asked from you.

my advice for you is to rent a room and not an apartment or flat/unit, as you will not be obligated to pay for the bills such as electric, gas and water.

as per etea website, the last intake this year will be in October...:)

now that you are officially registered wghen does work start for you dudzy? thank you for always taking time to help us all with our questions

Hi Chabeli, its nice to hear that your NBV assessment is coming soon...congrats!

We're almost on the same boat...I just want to share some info

I've contacted ETEA and their BP for October is full and the next intake is on Feb 1, 2010, there are still few slots available for Feb and they advise me to send my application ASAP.

Ive also contacted Deakin Uni, and the deadline is Sept 7, they've also advise me to send my application through mail/ courier, so, I doubt I can still catch up their Sept 7 deadline.

Goodluck!

As long as my visa 457 is granted, I can start work.. It is illegal to work without a valid visa that permits me to work and employers make sure you have one before commencing.. Waiting period is approximately 6 weeks as advised by my case officer.. I just hope it will be granted earlier..

Hi dudzy, I am here in the Western side. Whenever I call they usually say I should have my license first. But in your case, you didn't have to produce it or did you? Did you just apply online? I can not send you my mobile through the mails.. I wasn't using this for a very long time
