New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand

Updated:   Published

Hi everyone, please help me.

I graduated last march 2007 here in the Philippines and I have my license here already.

Because of oversupply of nurses here, it's too difficult to find a job.

That's why I'm looking forward to working in Australia or New Zealand.

However, I'm confused. Esp about Australia.

I already have my bachelors degree here.

When I go there in Aus to work as RN, must I take a diploma in nursing first? can I work while studying?

After obtaining my diploma there, am I already a registered nurse?

Thank you!

I passed the ielts!!!yey!!!..im so happy guys, i'll be asking idp manila to pass my results on monday...hopefully qnc will respond right away if im okay for the challenge test already..sooo excited!..:yeah:

you are most welcome miztahcool!:wink2: i recently checked out the DIAC website and found a lot of useful infos there..maybe you wanna check it out too :typing

i didn't fully understand one part in the website about a citizenship test..maybe that's the solution to my problem..still, i reckon that i will need to be registered with the qnc first.

Don't worry about that citienship test now as silverdragon102 suggested. The important thing is to get registered first. What concerns me very much right now is the cost. Good for you if you have the resources, but for people like me, money is awfully hard to come by these days. Anyway, I hope you pass the QNC assessment and good luck to the both of us.:wink2:

Congratulations terranova!

:yeah:

congratulations!:yeah:

I think you can do both actually, since it really takes too long to get hired by hospitals nowadays.hey, why not try applying at asian hospital? i heard that the selection process there occurs almost every month..then, while waiting, why not study for the ielts exam?but i tell you, the written exam in asian hospital is more like the nclex, but not as hard though...there are 2 exams-written and practical- then there are 4 interviews.it is inevitable that you'll be asked technical questions in the interview, but i'm sure you can answer them. goodluck! :nurse:

Thanks Julia! I just looked up Asian hospital on the web, it's located in Mutinlupa? A bit far from me (I'm from Bulacan by the way :wink2:) but I'm willing to relocate if that's what it takes...thanks again!

good day everyone!

i would like to ask the people here who have taken or will take the Challenge test B or clinical placement what kind of visa did they apply for? Tourist of Short Business Stay? What supporting documents did they pass? Also, did CAS send them a letter specifically intended for visa application?

hope to hear from you guys....

@punjabi.... sorry i can't PM yet.

Hi carmina! Are you done with the Part A?

YAY! It's been so long since I visited the thread.. Happy to see old members still helping the new ones :)

How's everyone doing? How are your applications?

Oh and btw, don't bother with the Citizenship yet.. you'd have to get a valid visa for you to work legally first and then onto PR then to Citizenship (which requires 4 years in total if I'm not mistaken).
