New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand

Updated:   Published

Hi everyone, please help me.

I graduated last march 2007 here in the Philippines and I have my license here already.

Because of oversupply of nurses here, it's too difficult to find a job.

That's why I'm looking forward to working in Australia or New Zealand.

However, I'm confused. Esp about Australia.

I already have my bachelors degree here.

When I go there in Aus to work as RN, must I take a diploma in nursing first? can I work while studying?

After obtaining my diploma there, am I already a registered nurse?

Thank you!

I've been checking out this thread, but I found it hard to get the information I need due to its size. Lol. I'm considering applying for Australia, I just passed the local board exam this June. Should I take the IELTS as the next step, or is hospital experience a main requirement also? I'm sorry if my question seems redundant. Hoping for a speedy reply, God bless!

btw, tnx miztahcool! oh, and i was also told by the consultancy that if we opt to convert our visa, we will need to consult an immigration lawyer there..:)

Thanks Julia heartily for the info. Good luck!

YOu can take the IELTS and review while you're waiting for calls from the hospitals you applied to here in PI. it would make you more productive.

Wow, thats great news..im sure you can pull it off..i wonder how long they respond after they receive your IELTS. Based on your timetable when do you see yourself taking the test?

hi nyk..i don't know really how long..but, im hoping to take the test maybe in nov or dec?..sana this year..hehehe..

they respond in 2-3 weeks after they have received your ielts. you will be receiving application form for the CAS Part A which you can scan and submit thru email. you will then be asked for your credit card details thru email as well.. I'm planning to take the exam in Oct but i'm still hesitant =(. Can the part A be taken in Cebu? or is it only available in Manila? I haven't paid yet so I got no details as to where and when I can take the exam, but they said you can choose the date for the test.. good luck to us! Maybe we can take the exam together terranova and punjabi? =)

ive got a question...

does the new english language requirements of the QNC applies to everyone?

how about those applicants who have been assessed prior to the new/changes in the english requirements? do they have to have a 7 band score in each module too or only those who applied after the changes have occurrred?

anyone? thank in advance...:)

Hi, I am wondering how long is the time required to take the CAS part A after receiving the eligibility to take the exam. Can you take it after 5 or 6 months?

congratulations!:yeah:

I think you can do both actually, since it really takes too long to get hired by hospitals nowadays.hey, why not try applying at asian hospital? i heard that the selection process there occurs almost every month..then, while waiting, why not study for the ielts exam?but i tell you, the written exam in asian hospital is more like the nclex, but not as hard though...there are 2 exams-written and practical- then there are 4 interviews.it is inevitable that you'll be asked technical questions in the interview, but i'm sure you can answer them. goodluck! :nurse:

Citizenship test is once you are a permanent resident and want to become a citizen of Australia. Usually have to meet requirements and have resided in Australia 12 months as a permanent resident and absences from Australia of no more than 12 months, including no more than ninety (90) days in the 12 months before applying. I wouldn't worry too much about it yet
