Hi everyone, please help me.
I graduated last march 2007 here in the Philippines and I have my license here already.
Because of oversupply of nurses here, it's too difficult to find a job.
That's why I'm looking forward to working in Australia or New Zealand.
However, I'm confused. Esp about Australia.
I already have my bachelors degree here.
When I go there in Aus to work as RN, must I take a diploma in nursing first? can I work while studying?
After obtaining my diploma there, am I already a registered nurse?
Thank you!
Good news for us nurses (or professionals) but bad news for other occupations (skilled)... pls. read on..
Australian media reported today that there have been 'major cuts' proposed to skilled migration that would 'shut the door' for many migrants. Here is summary of what has been reported:
The Government has proposed it will reduce the planned record intake of skilled migrants from 133,500 workers in 2008-09, to 115,000.
Building and construction occupations will be removed from the Critical Skills List.
The Minister for Immigration and Citizenship has just introduced a new Critical Skills List (CSL) with a focus on mainly health, medical, engineering and IT occupations.
Whilst the CSL does not make any changes to the substantive criteria to be met to qualify for skilled migration, it does result in priority processing. The current order of priority processing is:
Nurse - Registered Nurse appears on the new CSL. This means that upon successfully completing your skills assessment and lodging a valid visa application, you will qualify for priority processing by the Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC).
Immigration Minister, Senator Chris Evans, also commented that the overwhelming message from business and industry is that Australia still needs to maintain a skilled migration program and plays a crucial role in stimulating the economy.
Another few more question guys..
1. On the part where employment date is asked..what do you write on the next part the blank space which ask till what date are you employed if you are still currently employed.
2. Also in the part where it asks for school ..since i am a second courser what date do i write for my commencement date ..? do i write the first sem date and month i started in nursing or should i begin with my first course. Will QNC question me since i am a second courser since i just finished my nursing in 5 sems?
3. Did you send your application to the postal address or to the office address..does it matter?
Thanks guys.. Got all my things notarized and certified.. wish me luck..im just wanting for your answers so i can complete the form..

hi...you can just write the date you have started working and then write "present" ex: 19 january 2005 - present.
in my case, i manually wrote there "Volunteer Nurse"..
Write the date when did you started the nursing course. since your first course wont do anything in the nursing area and it will just create confusions. now, if so happened that youre in doubt with it or if you think that the QNC will doubt it, you can always attach a signed statement, stating that you are a second courser and that the school you have attended allowed you to finish nursing in less than 4 years.well, i think it will show at the end of your TOR.right?
just my suggestion: try to gather justifications that will support your papers, specially the TOR one.
Send your application to the QNC's postal address the GPO box one.

Hi Rissem!
I would like to know.. what exactly is supposed to be written at the end of the TOR of second coursers? cuz it varries per institution.. :)
and can you suggest other documents that would justify / support our claims about finishing nursing in less than 4 years?
Thanks so much :)
I guess I am at that point that i do not want to be looked down upon as a second courser after all that's what happened in for second coursers who initially applied for New Zealand and most certainly do not want that to happen in for those aiming for Australia as well.
Looking about my TOR, just after the end of the last subject listed on the list.
There is a line that reads "Graduated in the Four Year course in Nursing leading to the degree of Bachelor of Science in Nursing with S.O. (B) NO . 50-50122-xxxx "
Would this information be enough ? I think writing the letter would also be a good idea but what do you include? I took up my nursing in 6sems.. 4 sems and 2 summers..
Thanks for answering the other questions bro..
Hiya aelith!
what visa is suitable for me when I go to oz for my part II clinicals in the future if I want to bring my husband together with me? I am a bit confused because I thought its the 456 visa before but now, joeturtle's visa for the clinicals is 676 which is an individual visa. how's that?
thanks aelith!

I was informed by the immigration that if you applied for a 676 in your application, they will grant you 676 for nurses. But at the same token, if you applied for a 456 in your application, they will grant you 456 for nurses.
456 can be lodged also as a normal visa application.
In both cases, however, the Immigration will not put an 8503 restriction as it is a common procedure, once you pass your clinicals, that you will be able to lodge an interim permit onshore - without the need to return to your home country - a privilege for nurses.

Yes, just sign and have the declaration (Item 10) notarized. There is a statutory declaration in the old QNC form but its on Item 9.
