New grad Coverletter

Published

Hi. I'm a new grad hoping to get a job in a NICU. I know my chances are pretty slim, so I need my cover letter to really stand out. Can I please get some opinions and critiquing on this?

I am writing to express my interest in a RN position in the NICU at (Hospital). I have recently graduated with my Associates in Applied Science degree from (School's) nursing program, and I will begin (School's) RN-BSN program in August 2014. With your emphasis on providing exceptional service and your commitment to the community, I believe I would be a great asset to your facility

Currently, I work as a LPN at (employer) working specifically with pediatric patients. This experience has exposed me to children with a wide range of health issues and demographics. My previous clinical experience allowed me to work in multiple settings including critical care and emergency. This, along with my preceptorship in the NICU at (Hospital), has enabled me to develop strong skills, including excellent critical thinking and communication skills, which have prepared me for the challenges of nursing.

In addition to my nursing skills, I have a strong work ethic, passion for learning and dedication to provide exceptional service to each of my patients. I recognize the essential need to work collaboratively with all health care providers to provide the most comprehensive care to our patients. I strive to serve each of my patients with compassion, respect and excellenceI believe my skills and dedication would be a great asset in helping carry out (Hospital's) vision of improving health in a holistic manner. I look forward to having a personal interview to discuss how my experience and passion can contribute to your facility. I can be reached by phone or email. I appreciate your time and look forward to speaking with you.

Respectfully,
