I graduated at the end of May, have my IP and actually am taking my NCLEX today. I have been looking for a job since about March and havent even been called for an interview. The market is tight in Sacramento. Many of my classmates were offered jobs from hospitals where they interned/externed. Others were offered jobs after they passed their NCLEX. Do you think employeers hold out for candidates that have passed their NCLEX? Maybe I just have a crappy resume. Thoughts?

I would go straight to the person who has the authority to hire you.
Put on your suit and take your resume to the nurse manager of unit you want to work on. Tell her/him why you want to work there.

Make sure your resume doesn't have any typos or grammatical errors.

New grad jobs are hard to come by in Sacramento. I would suggest branching out a little bit. Try Lodi, Yuba City, or Chico. Once you have a little experience it will be easier to get a job in Sacto.

I passed my boards 3 weeks ago, and I am just starting to get interview, some recruiters told me they won't even talk to new grads until they pass their boards

I graduated in December and have had exactly one interview. I'm in the Bay A, but I hear Sactown is just as bad...nursing shortage? hah!
I guess I should post that I do in fact have an interview tomorrow!
Yippee!

i live on the opposite coast from you, but i know around here, lots of people i graduated with couldn't even get an interview until they took and passed the nclex. so maybe once you have your license in hand, it will be easier to get a job. good luck!
