to the new girl from Ohio

You post got deleted for using your real name. I had this typed out and wanted to pass it along

Ok.. Deep breath. I was in your shoes three years ago in Ohio. Hiding in my house, terrified of the doorbell, scared to death to move. Waiting for the police to show up and haul me away.

Get a lawyer NOW, there are many in Ohio. If you google you will find many in Ohio that specialize in healthcare workers and protecting your license. Do NOT talk to the board investigator who WILL be reaching out to you soon. The lawyer will handle the communication from this point on.

I also thought I was going to get charged and got a criminal lawyer. They say that they were able to get all potential charges dropped because he presented it in a way showing the board would punish me enough as it was. I was never charged with anything and did not have to do in leu of... I don't know if thats really what happened or if I was never even turned in..

This is what I did and I think it helped keep my situation.

The first thing that I did was inactivate my license (the board looks at this favorably since you are no longer a threat the public) and then wait.. They took three years. I found a job not using my license in the mean time.

Do you treatment, start going to meetings so you can show a true desire to heal, and for the love of god stop using. You are going to feel horrid and think about it constantly but you have to for you health/sanity/kids.

I have read hundreds of these forums, posts, comments, and living in this hell for three years the best thing you can do is keep your mouth shut and comply.

There is a way to get through this and many to. I am just now starting my contract with the board and see the smallest bit of hope.
