Practice practice questions and make sure you understand what they are asking and the rationale to the answer

Good luck

Definately practice those questions and understand the rational. As far as your question reagrding taking it again so soon, well, only you know that answer. Do you feel prepared? Do you feel like you are making progress as you study and answer questions? Is it just nerves? You might want to try looking through the Random Facts Thread too for some quick memory joggers. Good luck.:wink2:

group them drugs together if you can for example:

Angio Recep. Blocker: has "SARTAN"

Ace Inhibitor..end with "PRIL"

Beta Blocker.end with "OLOL"

Glucocorticoids.."Sort" "Cort"

Cholesterol Lowering meds>>end with "statin"take at nite,no grapefruit, watch for muscle weakness and sore

Aminoglycoside: "CIN","MYCIN","MICIN"-Ototoxicity/Hepatotoxicity

etc..........it sucks to get alot of meds with nclex, they expect us to be pharmacist!hehe:no:

Oh my gosh, we have the same schedule on taking the exam. May God Bless us with knowledge, patience and focus to pass the exam. I will be praying for you too.

Hey folashade. Well if they gave you alot of meds it means that they found you weak in that area. This time you need to master those suckers. They gave me alot of Medications the first time I took the test too and I wasn't very good at them either so I made sure I killed it when I prepared for the test again. It may seem hard but you know once you set your mind on something that you really want to accomplish you can do it. I bought a ton of poster boards roughly around 35-40 in total and I handwrote all the medications that I thot were very important and that I needed to know, posted these up on my wall and practically my whole room wall was covered from all four sides. It helped me remember the drugs alot because I would see them everyday along with their side effects, precautions, when to take them and so on. As everyone on here has mentioned practice those questions. It helped me alot to feel prepared for my exam. It just feels like your at home practicing questions when your at the test center. Anyways goodluck on your test.

SincCityRN, that was good advice. Pharm is what is killing me twice already on this NCLEX. I think I like your idea and will do more practice questions in that area. The first two times I read my Kaplan review book and my ATI but I guess that's not helping me.

Only you can determine if and when you are ready for the NCLEX. Personally I never felt ready and there was always something that would spring up (you know how life can be) that would put a crimp in the schedule. It just never seemed to fail and then I would be overwhelmed. So now I am just taking my time doing questions and reviewing rationales - basically not trying to study too hard. If you are not ready, don't take it. If you are ready, go for it and just do your best!

Think positive!

you think they give you more questions in the area you are weak in? i never heard that one before!

If you read the info provided for the exam you will find that it is stated if one misses a question, there will be another question of that type but at a lower level. If one passes the question, the next question will be at a higher level, until one has taken enough questions to determine a pass or fail. Many questions on meds indicates a weakness in meds. I would take that as a prompt to increase my study on meds for the next try. Good luck on your next go around. Hope you get good news after you take it again.
