New to the forum and Q about MEPN/BSN programs

Published

Hi everyone!

I'm new to the forum. I'm trying to get into an accelerated BSN program or MEPN, preferably the latter. I'm justing wondering what are some good schools to apply for? My grades are pretty good, 3.5 overall GPA and 3.7 in pre-reqs. I've worked in public health research for several years and wantto do something in psych and substance abuse. I don't have direct patient care yet, but I've had a lot of case-management exp working with individuals with chronic substance abuse issues. I'm looking for a program with A LOT of diversity and be able to do research too. I've looked into several programs, like Colorado State U, but it doesn't seem diverse enough for me. Any ideas?

Thanks!!!!

I'm in a similar spot myself. Just finishing up my jr year @ Univ of Denver and debating between BSN or AEMP. I'm looking at Univ of TX in Austin and Univ of WA in Seattle for AEMP, and Regis Univ for BSN. Anyone know anything about these programs?

Hi DuPioneer Gal,

The UW has a excellent program. I did my undergrad at the U in Psych/Sociology. The MEPN program is really competitive. I went to an info session and last year they had a 150 applicants for 20 spots! I was thinking about applying to the program as well, but not sure if I should bother. The student body is not really that diverse either. Nevertheless, I love the campus and the campus has tons of student resources. The nursing program is really expensive and the sucky thing is, UW's financial packages aren't that great. Cost of living is Seattle is kinda of expensive too.
