OK I just started at Davita a few months ago and am already discouraged by the company! I work in peritoneal dialysis and love the job itself but the company is coming across as not so employee friendly... my question is about the health insurance, from what I hear it sucks....anybody have anything good to say about it? The more I hear about Cigna the more I think I am going to have to find another job just to get better benefits!

Cigna probably has hundreds of contracts. What you need to know is about the contract with DaVita, not Cigna itself. Talk to HR

Maybe this should have been posted in the Dialysis forum? I worked for Davita and after I left the new company I went with also had Cigna. I took the PPO in both situations and was very happy with it. At Davita my coverage was 90/10 with low cost co-pay for Rx's. I then left and went to another company but Cigna coverage was only 70/30 with very poor co-pay for Rx's. It is dependant on the company contract.
Thanks guys, I thought I had posted in the dialysis forum and I put Davita in my heading hoping to get info from other Davita employees because I now each company has different companies. I researched cigna online and saw lots of awful stuff about them not paying claims etc. I could not find a benefits summary anywhere on my co. intranet or on the cigna site. I am a little worried because I had really good insurance before coming to this company and have just heard so many awful things....
I never had an issue with Cigna paying my claims. In fact they were paid quickly and without hassle. I elected to get Supartz injections in my knees for a service connected disability issue since VA doesnt cover them. My ortho had to get pre-approval but it took less than a week and they paid all by my co-pay. Considering it was a pre-existing condition under VA disability they didnt have to and very well could have denied the claim. It is good insurance and Davita has the better end of the stick comparative to many other dialysis companies. I didnt like working for Davita but I will say they had great benefits! Go to mycigna.com and you may get more answers there. Consider the PPO though as it gives much more choices then the HMO.
