I live in Houston too! :) Being a CNA is tough work but it is a rewarding job. I'm currently a CNA at a hospital while going to nursing school to be an RN. Some days are definitely more tough than others, but nothing to where I can't handle it. I work in float pool (they float me to whatever area of the hospital they need me at; Med-surg floor, IMCU, CCU, Rehab, Psych Unit, ER) so everyday is a little different, but on a typical day I'm on the Med-Surg floor. I take the patients vitals, change linens, assist patient's with bathing and toileting, maybe help feed them, empty foleys, transfer patients, answer call bells to assist in anything else the patient needs, assist the RN when needed etc. I usually have around 10-12 patients but it can be anywhere from 5-22 on some days. When I come home I'm usually exhausted but I actually do enjoy coming to work. Plus, you get to see some really neat things every once in awhile. :)
