I'm approaching graduation and as the 3rd semester comes to a close we have been informed that we will not participate in a preceptorship and rather we will be completing 325 hours of clinical rotations at various sites. Before starting we were told to make a good impression in our preceptorships in order to possibly secure a position in the area we are interested in. Last semester I had an out rotation a local ER and was told by the charge nurse to look into doing their preceptorship that they offer at that hospital. Now that we don't have a preceptorship, im facing the issue of not having that connection to get myself a job in the ER right out of college. I know it's a bit ambitious to try to get into that specialty right after college, but have also been assured it's not impossible. My question to you all is what can I do possibly as a volunteer or any other avenue of getting my foot in the door in any ER. Im open to all options, so if you have any suggestions please let me know.
Thanks
