New Aurora Hospital in Oconomowoc/Summit...anyone applied?

I live in the Oconomowoc area and have spent my career commuting to either Milwaukee or Madison. I am hoping to find something that fits me in the new Aurora Hospital. I saw nothing in the papers as to when it was opening so I called their press manager for the region. He told me "early 2010". They are taking applications now, online only. I did apply but I guess now it is wait and see.

I'm curious as to what anyone else has heard about this facility/or has applied.

I did the Summit general interest application they have on their website, which is the only posting I have seen for Summit so far. I received an email back thanking me for my interest and saying they will be sending email updates. That was may 15th and I haven't heard anything since.

I've heard rumors of opening any where between Oct 2009 and early 2010 but nothing that I can confirm.

I will be interested to see if they take any new grads. Aurora is popping up everywhere in WI these days...

Well it's been 5 months so here is an update....Aurora is starting to interview for positions at the new hospital. I've been interviewed twice. They still don't have a firm open date but I'm told "spring 2010". My suggestion? if you submitted an online application and haven't heard anything, go to their open position scroll and reapply with your existing application. that's what I did and I had 2 interviews immediately.

I applied to their general inquiry and to NICU, PEDS, L&D, and another position. I have not gotten any calls or interviews for any of these positions.

I just had a second interview....the hospital opens 3/1/10! They have said they want to have staff nurses hired and oriented in February 2010. everything seems to be picking up speed.

You can go to the Aurora site and see the status of your applications.

Can you tell me how I can apply to this new hospital?

They only take online applications as far as I know. They are at http://www.aurorahealthcare.org. There is a tab at the top for jobs. Click on that and the system walks you through the application process. You can also see what's available.

I did do that thank you,I also filled out some sort of form (the one that they ask you to put your name down if you are interested working in the new hospital) I also applied for their other RN position is Summit. I pray they will contact me soon,do you know if they hire brand new grad nurses? What is the interview like? I'm so desperate for job,I graduate from an Illinois nursing school this past May (2009) and I have been looking in my area for a nursing job for the past 6 months and all I get is rejections,my school loans are due starting december and I just started to look into other states-country-wide..but I prefer to relocate to a neighboring state....my last option would be Texas but it is so far West...

I have no clue what the hire plan is for Aurora. In my 2nd interview they did tell me they were starting "lean" and building staff from there.

I did want to emphasize that my initial application just sat there. If you haven't heard anything I'd cut and paste a new application. They are definitely interviewing right now for a February 2010 hire date.

I have applied to postings for the new Summit hospital. There are specific ones, just look for the town/city saying Summit. They WILL NOT hire new grads. They are looking for experienced RNs since it will be a new facility.

one of the worst places to work for
