New grad program at Sunrise Hospital

I'm new to this forum and am hoping that someone can shed some light into new grad program at Sunrise or Valley hospital. I just graduated this past May 2011 and have found work just recently as an RN. I was wondering if when applying for the new grad position, the hospital would still consider you qualified if you have already been employed as an RN. I know that St. Rose hospital require that you have not used your RN license at all to be qualified for their new grad program. Is it the same for the Valley Health Systems hospital and Sunrise? I've only been working for a few weeks as an RN and it's not in an acute care setting. I don't know if this job has ruined opportunities for me to get hired for the new grad positions. ANy information will greatly be appreciated. Thanks!

I wasn't able to apply for the NICU position, just the new grad program. Do you know if the new grad program is only limited to ICU and medsurg? I really hope that they will tell us which units are open for interviews. Have you heard anything back from the recruiter since your questionnaires and survey submission?

I also applied to Sunrise's New Grad Program. I hope I hear something soon! I graduated in December 2010 from UNLV and several students from the class before mine were hired into a previous New Grad Residency program there. Most of them were hired into med/surg units, although Sunrise is known to hire into ICU positions.

Just FYI, however, that if you applied to the NICU position that they have already selected the candidates for the program. My classmate was chosen and told me that interviews were conducted last week & that Thursday was the last day for interviews for NICU. Their program starts on the 24th.

From what I heard from a friend who was hired in the previous residency program, once you are accepted into the program you "float" onto several units for several weeks to determine which one(s) you're interested in. After a certain time frame they allow you to interview w/ the nurse manager for the units you're interested in, and from there a decision is made. Not sure if this applies to the children's hospital, although they might also be hiring new graduates since NICU wasn't available in the previous program. Sunrise is a large hospital with a vast array of specialty units, so it all depends on their needs where candidates are placed.

I also haven't heard anything from the recruiter, but Monday starts a new week. I've become so accustomed to getting rejection emails that when a good one comes along it's kind of a shock. no news is good news I suppose.

The recruiter sent me an email the day after I submitted my questionnaire. And yes, I have my NV license.

UPDATES: I called last friday and she said that phone calls should be made this week. Fingers and toes crossed now

Anyone apply to Valley hospital Spring valley? Anyone have to take the NCB test. Nurse career battery test. What is the test like? Any math? Drugs? etc. Please be specific on what areas one may be prepared. Thanks.

The NCB test is more like a personality test. There's no right or wrong answer. You just answer based on what your belief is to patient care, customer service, work ethics, etc. They're looking for a good match. It's a pass or fail. If you fail, you don't move forward to an interview and you cannot apply to any hospitals of Valley health system for 6 months.

Has anyone heard back regarding the MountainView new grad positions? Also, did anyone else apply to the St. Rose versant program?

I applied to St. Rose but didn't get in :( That's the only new grad position I've found so far...
