I have 1 year of nursing school left and for some reason I am starting to get really nervous about being on my own after I graduate. I feel like there is so much information from nursing school that I forgot and that I will never learn. I have gotten great grades and evaluations from my clinical instructors but after 1 year of nursing school I still don't feel like a nurse (like they said we would) Am I worrying too much? Does this eventually get better after the 2nd year?

Your comfort level really should increase in your last two semesters but the truth is, imo, that most of the real education begins after you graduate and start orientating on the unit where you will be working. Relax, much of what you think you forgot will come back to you.

That depends.
Did you really forget everything or was it hyperbole? When you go back and review (old textbooks, notes, etc.) does it ring a bell or is it like you are seeing it for the first time. If its the latter, then I would spend some extra time on fundamentals. If its the former, then yes, you are worrying too much.

It's normal to be a little jittery knowing that you are actually about to be put out there in the work force. My advice, for information forgotten, is to ALWAYS keep your nursing notes, handouts, etc...
I still have my notebooks from my high school nursing courses that I refer to from time to time.

It will come right back to you. I cannot wait to graduate. I think graduation will be on the 29th January 2010. I will done before that.
