Hey guys..have a dilemma here. I am a new nurse deciding between two job offers. One is in the OR at a small rural hospital in a less than desirable location...but I liked the actual job and structured orientation. The other job is in the Pre-Op/PACU unit in a very desirable location...less pay and the orientation was not as structured. So take the job in the better location for less pay or take the job with higher pay and structured orientation but not in the best living area. Any thoughts??

I guess it comes down to: do you want to be a OR nurse or a PACU nurse? They are two totally different skills sets. PACU is based in critical care. Operating Room is really like no other. That's really what you need to decide. Once you get your training, either way, you can take it anywhere. Good luck with your decision.

Take the job that you will be happiest in, once you get experience you can always move to another more desirable location and get a job in the nursing unit that you love.
