Need opinions of Nurse Educators...

Published

Hi all, I am in the process of researching Universities for the MSN/Ed program ... The amount of schools and information is a little overwhelming. As a nurse educator, who has done this already, what are some things that I should look for in a MSN/Ed program. I want/need to do an online program, because of my schedule, kids, etc. My goal, of course, is to teach. So, I don't really want a curriculum that requires alot of elective/filler type classes. I want it to the point- Any advice/suggestions? Thank you.

I am going to an online program at St. Louis University. Mine is for perinatal educator. I also looked into Mansfield University, the University of Wyoming, and Wheeling Jesuit University. All are for Nursing Education. I just started last week as a staff development educator, so I have very little experience there. Best of luck to you.

You obviously want to look for an accredited school/ curriculum; also, a concentration in Nursing Education that is reasonable and fair (not too easy, but not too overwhelming). You want a program with caring and qualified faculty. One such program is offered by the East Carolina University School of Nursing (totally online): http://nursing.ecu.edu/msn_concentrations.htm#ne
