Need a little encouragement

Hey guys.

I'm at the end of my rope. For a brief history I went through an entire ASN program and failed my final exam right before graduation by 0.9.

I tried LPN school but didn't feel it was for me and now I'm in a BSN program or at least I hope I still am.

I got written up for being late to a clinical this last Saturday when the professor gave us the wrong time to attend in an email and didn't correct it via email only in an announcement that I missed. Same professor also wants to write me up for not turning in my online documentation for clinical even though I explained to her that I was having technical issues and could she please cut me some slack. She said no so I'm facing dismissal from the program. Then to top it all off I didn't do well on my final exam today and may have to apply for readmission. I know in my bones that I am meant to be a nurse. Has anyone else faced this many difficulties in nursing school or am I just a complete failure?

It sounds like where you are failing is in attention to detail and followup. It is your responsibility to find out when deadlines, etc. are and to comply. This is an essential part of nursing. You have a lot of reasons for why you are failing, but the bottom line is these rules are not just for you. Everyone is expected to comply with them and the ones that continue do.

I would encourage you to clean up your act. Do what is expected of you in the time that it is expected. If you get that straight, then you can be successful. It you do not, than no matter how much you "feel" you are meant to be a nurse, it will not happen.

Good luck to you. You can do this.

The teacher telling you the wrong time for clinical should be on her. If you tell your students the wrong information, you better make sure they get the right information. But let's be honest, students today don't have the balls to hold teachers to those standards anymore. Look at how many threads are popping up about teachers refusing to review tests.

The clinical paperwork: There's the library, every one of your friends probably has a computer, I'm sure you have a cell phone with internet access, and you could have even taken a drive and hand-delivered the paperwork.

The final, you probably needed to study more.

You're not a failure, but you need a kick in the ass to get a little more responsible.
