Need to interview 2 nursing students ASAP

Published

Hi Everyone ~ I have an assignment due this Friday, it requires that I interview 2 other nursing students....problem is I just relocated a few months ago, and so far all of my classes are online. So...because I am pre-nursing I don't know anyone local in the nursing program.

So I'd like to find out if anyone here would be willing to be interviewed? :nurse:The questions are simple:

1) How has being in nursing school different than what you expected?

2) What is the most challenging aspect of being a nursing student for you?

3) What is the best part about being a nursing student for you?

4) What advice would you give to pre-nursing students about what to do before entering nursing school?

5) What are your best survival tips for surviving in a nursing program?

I would be happy to answer these for you.

1. I knew that I would be spending time away from my family, and a lot of time studying. Honestly I had NO IDEA the amount of time I would ACTUALLY be spending in my books. I don't work and I would say I spend 70-80 hours outside the classroom studying.

2. The most challenging, oddly enough, is dealing with people in my class! The clients are fantastic, even the grumpy ones. I mean the ones we care for are sick or dieing and OF COURSE they are not all going to be in the best of moods. Many classmates, who are largely in number under the age of 23, spend the week talking about partying, go party, come in on Monday only to bomb the test, only to follow that up with hours of complaining. Not to mention the questions some of them ask, YES there are stupid questions! LOL

3. Being with the clients. I LOVE IT! Even more than I imagined. Another thing that I love is looking back and what I have learned, so far, is actually quite an amazing thing. There is so much new information running around in my head. One day all that information is going to fall into place, make more sense, and could be part of saving lives. How much more amazing can something be?!

4. Advice to pre nursing students is to go in this with everything you have. Dig dip inside yourself and find that little piece that wants this more than anything and hold onto it. Sometimes that might be the only piece left in you that can hold on...but do it! If you want this bad enough, all the sacrifices in the world won't stop you.

5. Survival tip one....find a RELIABLE study buddy. One with the same goals and drive that you have. Meet with them often, I meet mine daily (7 days a week). Start a study routine and stick to it. You can belong to a larger study group but find someone you can depend on to kick you in the bum when you are feeling exhausted, cause you will feel that way.

Survival tip two... when someone tells you that you can't....DO IT ANYWAY! If you feed into the negativity it will break your spirit.

Survival tip three....if you have kids, get a back-up plan, and a back-up for that back-up. Be UNAVAILABLE, unless it is a DIRE emergency.

Survival tip four.... LAUGH everyday....about something....

Survival tip five.... REMEMBER HOW MUCH IT IS WORTH IT AND DO IT!

GOOD LUCK TO YOU

Thanks SO much for the quick response! I'm really thankful and glad I found this site!

Sure! I would love to help!!

1) I knew it was going to be a lot of work, but I didn't realize how much it would really be. I was also surprised that there was a lot of theory and other things to learn before getting into the clinical work

2)Time management! It's hard to stay on track. Procrastination is a big problem, mostly because I see the mound of work that needs to be done and just can't bring myself to start it.

3) I love the fact that my profession will be helping people return to health and stay healthy. I'm sure it would be much easier to be another major, but I just don't think the reward would be as great. There is also a strong bond that is formed within the nurses that I just don't see in other majors

4) Get your study habits down, and find out what works for you. Studying and remembering what you've read are 2 really important parts of being successful, so get those skills down and you will be golden. Also, learn how to manage your time.

5) Don't be afraid to ask questions and get to know your fellow nursing majors because you will be spending the majority of your time with them and they will be a really good resource. Also, if you have a student nurses association or something similar, join it and get involved, you will enjoy your time in nursing school so much more and get so much more out of it.

Hope this helps, good luck!:)

Thank you!!! You guys are awesome! I was really worried about not finding anyone to interview. :yeah:
