I am really new to this. In fact, I am scheduled to speak with someone from Maximus this week. What is the interview like? What do they ask? How long does the process take to begin the diversion program? Also, I have read that they want you to do therapy inpatient or outpatient? About how much a month does it cost? How much are the support meetings and drug test? I am scared that I will not be able to afford it, but I need to do this. Please, any information will be greatly appreciated. Thank you, and good luck to all.

jackstem,
Thanks for your reply. I have a telephone interview this coming week with Maximus. I am nervous. Not sure what they will ask or will they allow me into the diversion program. Also, what information do you have on OIG? If someone is in a diversion program such as Maximus (for California), will your name be placed on this list? If so when? Any information greatly appreciated. Thanks again.

I know this is an old post, but I wasn't able to figure out how to create my own post [emoji53].
I am currently in the Oklahoma Peer Assistance program and I just received my California license ( I have been living in California the entire time I've been in my program and they allowed me to complete my requirements in California while waiting for my license). I have my intake interview on Monday with Maximus so that I can hopefully transfer over the the California diversion program. Anyway, I was just curious if anyone knows what the intake interview entails- it's a phone interview and I was told to give myself 2 hours to be on the phone! Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I know this is a really old post but I'm looking to do the exact same thing (moving to CA). I'm too new to pm you.
How did you make out with your transfer?
did they make you start over?
When you applied for CA license did you disclose that you were already in a monitoring program?
I read that you have to have an active CA license in order to qualify.

Yes you have to wait until you have a CA license to apply. When I applied for my license, I wasn't enrolled in a monitoring program. It took me 7 months to get my license (not because of Peer but because CA is amazingly slow), by then I had been in monitoring for 6months. They wouldn't let me count anything I had done except IOP since I actually did that while living in CA. They didn't count any of my meetings or testings even though it was all done in CA too, just through another state's program. I was told it would be another year before I would even get my okay for work, and then you can't be in patient care for 6 more months.... Making it near impossible to get a job. So I said no thanks, and moved back to my home state to finish my program.

Thank you so much for your reply. That's crazy! You have to work under your license but no patient care? What exactly do they expect you to do? Well, I'll just have to deal I guess cause I'm definately moving to CA. I was already resigned to adding extra time. Thanks again.
