Yes, I have taken it. I was worried because I am NOT a math person. I passed it though. There is a study guide....simply called the TABE study guide by "McGraw/Hill". Check you local library. I did not use this guide however. Just know fractions, decimals, percentages, and graphs. There are also some questions like " 10 to the 3rd power times 10 to the 4th pwer equals what" I also believe some questions about weights...grams and whatnot. When is your test? There are four parts to the test. 2 math parts, spelling and reading. Good luck!!
Thanks a lot Sassiebaz! I'm taking the test in first week of Aug.
What state do you live in? Where are you going to school?
I live in TX, but I will be going to school in OK. What about you? Are you already in the program or what?

I am nervous about taking it too. I have the TABE review book and I have been doing the english and reading stuff. That's the stuff I know already and I have only gotten about 1 to 2 wrong per section. I am really worried about the math. I sucked at math in high school!
I am in AZ and I haven't decided if I am going to pursue the LPN and start the program or not. However, the test is not as difficult as it may seem. I too was terrible at math(algebra) but this test doens't have a lot of algebra. Just basics. There are really only a handful of questions I actually had to work out on paper. Ok, granted I barely passed the math...I got a 10 and that's exactly the bare minimum I needed for this program, but I didn't really study either. I just figured if I don't pass, atleast I will know what to study for next time. I do suggest you read through the TABE guide of you have one and just brush up on some skills. The reading and spelling were cake!!!

Don't let yourself stress over this test. It is not as difficult as it may seem. Keep in mind, the name ... test of "Adult Basic Education". The hardest part is just remembering what you learned in school. You may want to refresh on fractions ... that's what I seemed to forget the most.
Here is a link, from my school's website, for a practice TABE test. I hope you find it helpful.

I took the test earlier this year and scored as high as you can score (at least in FL, not sure if it is the same everywhere). The only thing I studied was this practice test.
Good luck on your test! Again, don't let yourself stress too much!!!
I have a quick question for those already taken the test. I was @ the book store the other day trying to get the study guide for the TABE, I came to find out there are many Levels to the test, like level A, D etc. so I called my school to find out what level they used on the actual test. They told me Form 7&8. What do they mean? Can someone PLEASE explain this to me B/c I'm confused and for those who have the study guide, what is the name of the study guide you have?
Thanx!!!

With TABE, there are two parallel forms (such as 7 and 8) that can be used for retesting the same students. The form number tells you the edition of the test. TABE 7/8 was published in 1994. The newest edition is TABE 8/9, but I'm not sure if it's available yet.
TABE Forms 7/8 and 8/9 include the following levels:
Level L (limited literacy) - Grade 0.0-1.9
Level E (easy) - Grade 1.6-3.9
Level M (moderate) - Grade 3.6-6.9
Level D (difficult) - Grade 6.6-8.9
Level A (adult) - Grade 8.6-12.9
My vo-tech tests only Level A and, the last I checked, TABE 7/8.
I'm not sure if this is the "study guide" you mentioned, but I have the Building Skills with TABE Level A workbooks for both math and English. I haven't seen any reference to form numbers/editions in the workbook; however, they were printed and/or published in 2001.
Hope that helps. Good luck!
Hey Zooz, thank you for breaken it down for me. This is awesome!

I took the TABE last week, 7/8, version D. I was very worried about it beforehand, almost didn't even show up for the test I was so convinced I'd tank it, and then totally breezed through the test. And I am SOOO not a math person. I ended up getting one of the highest test scores there and was accepted into the LPN program. :)
The funny thing is that I studied for the wrong test. I studied for the TEAS, which seems to be much harder than the TABE (no science portion to the TABE, at least the one I took).
