HI, we are currently planning our pinning ceremony, can anyone give me background info on it. Is it proper to give gifts to favorite instructors, if so, what?

Mines isn't until July but I went to one recently and it was really nice. The students walked out with lighted candles ( fake ones) to a really nice song. They also has a slide show of pics with each of the students and their families. Ofcourse they said the nurse's pledge and etc. Those were the highlights of it atleast.

We had the lanterns with a candle that we lit when the lights were lowered with the flame from the person's candle next to us....it was beautiful!! We also recited the Nightinggale Pledge. One student sang a song she wrote especially for the ceremony and two others gave a speech. We walked to the center of the stage to receive our pins from a faculty member and then received a long stem red rose at the end of the stage. Then we had a great reception for the students and their guests
We didn't give instructors gifts at the pinning ceremony, though....we usually did that at the end of each semester.
