How do u reject a job offer? What do i tell the manager? Do i have to give a reason for not accepting the position?

I waited for about 2 weeks and did not heard from then and accepted another job. will i ever get a job at the hospital if a reject the offer now?

It was a phone offer so do i call back to reject the offer or do i need to send a letter or an email?

Thanks for any help.

I would call back and ask if they would like you to put it in writing. You want to respond as quickly as possible here and maintain a positive relationship so that you can get another offer in the future if you want to work there sometime.

Start by saying "thank you" for the offer and pointing out that it is a wonderful opportunity. Stay positive ... then simply tell them that you have decided that it is not the best fit for you at this time. No need to go into details.

What you don't want to do is to drag your feet and keep them hanging ... or give the impression that you have negative thoughts about their fine facility and the people who work there.

If they probe around, asking why you will not be joining them ... simply say that while you were waiting to hear from them, another facility made a very attractive offer that you decided to accept. That hints that they might have recruited you had they acted more quickly. If they push even further, say that since you have already accepted that offer, you feel it would be unethical to back out now. Depending on the question they asked, you might also say that you couldn't afford to take any chances and risk not getting any offers in this economy. So, when the other facility made a good offer, you felt you needed to accept it.

Odds are, they won't push very hard to find out why you are rejecting their offer -- but those are a few "safe" things to say if pushed. They'll probably just say "thank you for letting us know" and that will be that.

"Thank you for the offer, but I've decided to pursue employment at this time."

I was scared out of my mind to reject my other offers when I got my job, but it wasn't that bad.

I have rejected offers a few times. I simply said "Thank you for the offer. I have recently accepted another position, while waiting for a call back. I am going to honor my commitment to the other hospital/facility at this time. I will most definatly keep this hospital/facility in mind if I am looking for other options in the future. Thanks again for offering me the job."

Great ideas, and I have done those before. Call the recruiter back and let them know, and then write a nice letter to the folks who interviewed you thanking them for their time and the offer.

Thanks for all ur comments. I have being trying to call the nurse manager all day but she did not answer my calls. I don't think it is right to leave a voice message. Is it ok to send an email coz i really want to get it over with.
