Need help re: desire for multi-state licensure

Although I'm licensed & working full-time job in the state where we currently live, I would like to obtain licensure in two other states as well:

MO - because we boarder that, with a 10 min drive

OH - because my elderly parents live there & I would like to be able to obtain work if I need to be there for an extended period.

I'm getting a headache just looking at the other states web sites. Looked like OH doesn't recognize multi-state or something. Anyway... can anyone who has been thru this tell me the EASIEST way to do this please?

Thank you so much. :redbeathe:nurse::redbeathe

Since the states you mention are not listed, you will have to contact each board of nursing and apply for licensure by endorsement. Just follow the directions on each respective site.

Ohio does NOT recognize the multi-state license. There is a discussion as to the reason on the OBN website.

it is easier then you think... i have a multi-state license because the license in the state i live is a multi-state license. however, i have another license in the state i grew up (where my folks live) and that is not a multi-state license. thus, i literally hold two licenses with different set of privileges. as the above posters mentioned, you must contact the state you wish to receive a license by applying through "endorsement". also, be sure to comply with licensing requirements of both bons to keep your licenses (that part is a headache).

I was originally licensed in TX (compact state). I moved to TN (also compact state) I had to get a TN license since TN was now my home of record. This caused my TX license to be deactivated (you can only hold one compact state license, it is the one where you live). Then I moved to WA state (not a compact state). New license again. I also had my TX license re-activated. I took a travel assignment to CA. Now another license.

So I hold 4 licenses. My home is WA so I need a license in each state I want to work in.

If you live in a compact state, you can work in any compact state with your home of record license, but not in states that are not in the compact.

Does this make sense?
