Need help memorizing vitals for all ages.

Published

I am just memorizing key items for the nclex, and was wondering if anyone has a great mnemonic for learning the vital signs for people of all ages: temp, pulse, bp, respiratory.

I don't have a way to remember them. I think it's just one of those things you need to know. If I were you, and this is just my opinion, just concentrate on normals first. Bp 120/80 RR 12-20 T 98.6 HR 60-100. Once you have those memorized then move on to memorizing infants, etc. but I'm betting most of the vitals on your NCLEX will be normals for adults.

I have the normal values for adults real well, it's just not all the age groups. I am having trouble with.

Vitals for adult should be easy even when you add infant's vitals as well. My problem is memorizing Developmental Milestone from Age 0 to like Age 3 years. Those are the hard ones for me.

I was looking for an easy way to memorize for infants, toddlers, preschoolers, school age, and adolescence. A chart came up in my hurst review book, that pointed out it's importance.

@swansonplace Thank you so much for this information. I shall check it out later. I am struggling more on developmental milestone than anything in Nursing. I guess it helps if i have a kid of my own, watching him/her grows.

Thanks again.

PS: I never thought about utilizing YouTube as part of my review. Interesting.

Don't fret too long on things. If you have trouble post, and maybe someone can point you in the right direction.
