I am currently taking Med. Terminology(115) online thru my local college....And I am totally stumped and lost :uhoh21: when it comes to breaking down words into its individual parts like:
intradermal, dermatologist(i know it), anti-inflammatory, microscope(i know it), hyperpigmented, epidermis(know it too), facial, confluent, pustules, and hemangioma.....
I know a few of them, but the class is just now started and I am afraid that I will end up faling because of this breaking the word parts down.......Are there any sites or anyone thast can help me on these????I would greatly appreciate it on any information that I may receive from anyone at all.....I know that I will get the hang of it if I just had SOME help with it...
Thanks
Jess:)

Hopefully your class will cover certain common prefixes and suffixes through the term, and they will begin to stick out when you see new words. This is how it worked for me when I was training to become a medical transcriptionist. I'm not sure what to recommend, except that don't expect yourself to recognize the whole words until your class covers the parts. Good luck to ya :)
These are assignments that are due...But what I dont understand is how to break them down into the parts...The book has suffixes and prefixes(some) but its got me all so confused, I dunno...The book doesnt go into much detail as in how to break them down..
Thanks tho,
Jess

It sounds like you could use some worksheets etc. of prefixes and suffixes - if you can't determine what those are then you won't be able to break down the words (intra, inter,-ologist, -oma, etc.). I loved med terms, but it really is important to learn a bunch of the common prefixes and suffixes. Sorry you are struggling! I hope it gets better and easier as you go. Hang in there!

https://allnurses.com/forums/f198/medical-terminology-140046.html#post1495375 this is a current thread about medical terminology that is currently going in the pre-nursing student forum. check it out also.
these are all the links i have for help with medical terminology. i hope you find the help you need with them. remember, looking information over and over and over (especially figuring out how word roots, suffixes and prefixes fit together) will help. as you start to get the hang of joining these word parts, practice by trying to put together words yourself. make them up, then look them up in a dictionary to see if they exist!
