I am very new here guys -this my first nclex-pn and failed! Right now, I am very frusrated. I have never studied so hard for any exam like this in my life. I quit my job to devote all my attention to it, graduated in less than one year, prepared for this nclex for 3 months using ATI testing and Saunders but to my supprise I failed: I conviniently answered the questions up to 170th when my time-out was only less than 10 minutes to go! I did not want to leave any question unanswered (as we were told at the nursing school) so I clicked any answer(s) for the rest to make up for the the maximum 205 before I was timed out. Was this a mistake to have done this? what do I do next now? please I need your advise. Please.

I'm pretty sure you are only graded on what you answer. For example, if you only answer 100 questions in 6 hours the others you failed to answer do not count against you. Put thought into all answers because if you just click C you are only getting 25% correct on average.
If you look at it statistically only 50% of people who fail the test pass it the second time around. You need to do something different to ensure passage. Maybe a different prep course or different study habits, but something has to change.

im sorry you didnt pass. you should maybe try an in person reveiw. kaplan does one, i hear. they will teach you strategies on how to answer eack question. whatever you do, dont pick any answer just to answer. take your time with each question. the object isnt to answer all 265 questions, the object is to get the right answer one at a time. good luck to you.:)
You mean the second exam is usually tougher than the first! and only 50% do pass it. whao!
Thanks so much for the advice.
I think the test is the same difficulty, just different questions. The problem is that there is an almost 90% first time pass rate and the pass rate is about 50% for those who repeat. that means that somewhere along the line people who retake are not changing how or what they are studying. Expecting a different result without changing the preparation is asking to fail again. Of course there are those who find it difficult to take a test, had a health issue, or something.

I have taken both exams the PN and RN and passed using just Saunders and ATI. I really believe that they only grade you on what you answer. The first time on the PN I had only 85 questions but the RN test gave me 265. My advice is next time you take the test don't focus on the number of questions but each question as you get it. If you panicked and just started clicking answers then that could have tipped the scale to the fail. Don't give up and next time don't worry about the number of questions or the time just work through each question as they come. Best Wishes!
thank you all for your various inputs, how i wish i 'd known all these before now. well, i believe all shall be well thenext time.

Take the test again soon, start all over with studying as if you have never taken NCLEX before. You probably don't need much more NCLEX information, seems like you had plenty of time to study with your resources. You might want to focus on if you retained the major points. Good luck studying!
