need help for clinical situations

hi, i have got two situations from my clinical course that i could not find the best action towards them. i am hoping anyone who have been in those situations or know how to deal with them can give me a hint. thank you!

1) what would you do if you were on a night shift and two nurses phoned in sick at the last minute?

2) when you are confronted by a patient or family member, how you would handle it?

In our work, we ring the allocations straight away to inform them that we have 2 staff who called in sick..the allocations will then arrange staff to come to help out or can phone nursing agency to fill in..second question..try to be calm as much as possible then ask "what's the matter"..not "what's the problem" as stated in the conflict resolution..call your NUM or Anum and refer the matter to them..hope these helped!!All the best on your course..
