My DD came home from school last night with a note that they are doing a secret Santa and they have to MAKE a gift for their classmate.
She has to make something handmade, related to "dance" since this is what her classmate indicated was her interest, and it must cost less than $5.
I am about the least crafty person I know! She has to bring it in to school next week.
HELP!!!

Secret Santa brings out the Scrooge in me more than anything else. I HATE Secret Santa stuff and refuse to participate in any way, shape, or form...just tape a 5.00 bill on a picture of John Travolta in Saturday Night Fever and call it.

Pinterest is your friend in this case.
Also, I just heard the voice of Scrooge coming from OD - "Christmas is a poor excuse every 25th of December to pick a man's pockets".

Yes, my poor DD is stuck doing THREE of these, because there is also one at her cheer gym she has to do and one other.

Interpretive dance? Ballet? Line?
Sorry. It's not like I have any crafty answers....I'm just feeling over the "homemade" stuff. I agree with OD. How about a nice note about how great this kid is and a fiver taped to...maybe Justin Timberlake?

LOL each kid had to fill out some sort of survey to give the other kid ideas about what they "liked". Tis kid said dance, the colors orange and green, and some book "Miracles from Heaven", LOLOLOL.

Get "dance" themed scrapbook stickers at Michaels. Stick them to one of those blank crafting ornaments. BAM an ornament.

How old is she?
When I was in band, we had "big sis/little sis" gifts we could do and I always loved decorating a big water jug (one with a spout you can drink from) and putting a few treats inside. She could put her name on it, decorate it with stickers and, tie some tulle around it for some flair.

She's 11, 5th grade. Wondering if the entire thing needs to be homemade or if I could do something like that- cute idea!

My daughter does dance classes, so if you think this is what she means by "dance", she might enjoy some homemade lotion for her feet, a plain water bottle jazzed up with dance stickers, a plain tote bag also dance theme decorated, or homemade dance themed picture frame.

Burn a CD with all a playlist of "dance songs" and include stuff like Broadway jazz songs, Nutcracker classics, Modern day hip hop, etc... Decorate the case with stickers and construction paper or something and call it done!
