Need advice! on working with a home heathcare job

Published

I have been offered my first job as CNA for a home health care agency - per diem. I am thinking that this might be a good way to get "Hands-on" experience before my next job...also, they don't require a license as long as you have an exam date - which I do. Any advice out there? Thanks - have a good Thanksgiving!:redpinkhe I am just excited to have an opportunity!

Make certain that you have a good talk with your agency about what their expectations are and what are the do's and don'ts. One of these is that you are not to get involved with the meds other than to remind the patient to take them. They have to do it themselves. And it goes without telling that you need to be reliable, and on time. Also turn your cell phone off. One of the quickest ways to lose a home care job is to have the patient/patient's family complain to the agency that you were on your cell phone when you should have been doing something for the patient. Good luck with your new job.

Thank you so much!!!! I can tell you have quite the experience. I am so very nervous...not sure where to begin.

I have my exam on Thursday...my efforts right now are to pass the test. THEN get my license...then start work. I think I am ahead of the game...I hope!
