I am a pre-nursing student at a community college, who is very passionate about becoming a nurse! I plan to transfer to a nursing school next fall and I am struggling trying to decide which school is best for me This is such a big decision for me, obviously, because I want to receive the best preparation for my future career.
My biggest concern right now is choosing between the BSN pathway and the ASN pathway. I know I eventually will continue my education to earn a BSN even if I choose the second one, but there are so many pros and cons about both routes. Some advisers have told me that many students graduated from the traditional BSN programs feel unprepared for the clinical or the "real" practice in their new jobs, whereas the students with ASN have more clinical focused experience after graduation. What do you guys think?? Do you find it possibly true??
I am considering several schools in NY as my choices:
Ellis Hospital School of Nursing
Memorial Hospital School of Nursing/Samaritan Hospital School of Nursing
Crouse Hospital School of Nursing
SUNY Brockport
Since I am not a NY resident, I am desperate to get some insights about these schools or other nursing schools you personally recommend. Any advice or opinions will be greatly appreciated! :redbeathe
